Mine seem to have sidewall material which I think is the same material as the topsheets. I can't detect any exposed wood or even wood grain on the sidewalls, just that plastic topsheet material. I wonder if there's a variety of those skis...some with sidewalls and some without. Mine definitely don't have a plastic sidewall...which is certainly cool- not sure how durable it will be...
Did you find an aluminum plate in the binding zone when you mounted the bindings? I was actually pleasantly surprised by that- I expected them to just be solid wood beneath.

How did you guys plug up the existing holes? Did you get some plugs or just fill them with glue?

I used waterproof wood glue and plugged the holes with an 1/8 inch dowel I had around here. These skis are so cool looking that I even went to the trouble of painting the tops of the plugs white.

I plugged them with white silicone.
The fact that they came pre-drilled for the universal binding really bugged me at first- I've got over it though!

You can use those wooden skewers that you use for kabobs, etc. They are perfect diameter and easy to cut to length with hand nippers;)

I mixed epoxy with sawdust. Really liking mine so far. I'll probably epoxy the edges near the tips though. If the edge of the other ski bumps into it it dents and cuts away the paint and finish.
