Jay, Nov 15th 2015, no snow, no skin, no cable, no helmet

Sometime in life, the best decision are the one you do not take

This morning, I shouldn't left Sainte-Adele. I'm an emotive guy, and i get carry away easily. Especialy when I see post and video about ski on facebook.

Yesterday, someone posted an awesome 10 seconds video at jay in snow condition that looked phenomenal.

This morning, we could read on facebook: 4 inches of snow at the base of Jay Peak.

That was enough for me.

After a quick stop in Sutton, I picked up my old buddy Johnny and headed to Jay.

The problem with skier: they lie like fisherman. The 4 inches of snow were in fact 4 inches metric (4 centimeters).

The partner's choice is really important in those kind of condition. when you have to turn around, you have to turn around. But when you are an old stubborn grinch and you partner is the same, you keep convincing yourself that it's going to be better at the summit.

It's was the same at the summit

After a quick stop at the summit we started to ski.

You have to be completely stupid to ski in those conditions with no snow, no skin, no cable, no helmet

The summit was covered by the usual Jay Cloud. The visibility was none.

At mid-mountain, things where not better

Once we got out of the cloud, the snow was no where to be found.
IMG_0940 (1024x768).jpg
Even the easiest run where not skiable.

To shorten our pain, we decided to go downhill from here

We made it back home, unsatisfied with the result.

The only good thing, the Carabins of the university of Montréal won over the Rouge et Or of university Laval yesterday (canadian university football)

Those gifs are the best!

It makes me laugh every time... not so much because of you guys, but it reminds me when I have done the exact same things!

My wife says it's good motivation - she feels like she can finally relate her entire skiing experience :D

Hahahaha. That's great. Not too bad for an early season grass and rocks expedition. Some of that looks downright scary: thin cover and rock-hard earth to crash into. Thanks for posting this. Great photos/gifs of gnarly skiing!

Once, I skied an officially open trail at Jay Peak with less snow than that.
