Still plenty of snow left at Val d'Irène (Gaspésie). Don't be fool by the snow coverage, this mountain operates only with natural snow.

Is that NNNBC at a ski area? They probably don't see that very often! Looks like a great place with tons of snow.

You are right about the nnnbc. I don't think they saw that kind of setup very often based on the number of questions I was asked. This place has a lot of potential with the steepest runs in Quebec (over 45 degrees) and a dedicated backcountry area!

View from top of Anthony Lakes chairlift (7900 ft.) , facing south (groomed Alpine ski trails, which I was skiing are north of this location, XC trails to northwest).

30 March Lake Louise. It snowed 27 of the 31 days I was there.


Another day, more fresh tracks.

So much snow but I still felt compelled to conserve terrain.

Avalanche hazard was so extreme I rarely stepped out of bounds cuz didn't need to. This is my usual playground on Richardson's Ridge all slid to ground and unskiable.
