Telemark Ski and binding question
Telemark Ski and binding question
Hey everyone, so upfront I apologize for the total newb question. We just picked up a couple pairs of telemark skis and bindings on the cheap at a yard sale. At the time we really weren't familiar with telemark skiing. My question is, is it possible, at all, to mount downhill bindings to these skis? Thanks everyone!

Re: Telemark Ski and binding question
97% yes.
Gotta picture or salient details? There are a few tele skis manufactured that are not necessarily built in a way that can accept/survive the forces in the heel on a fixed alpine binding. They are few and far between, though.
You can always try to join the darkside, and realize what you've been missing...

I'm going to say it's probably OK to put alpine bindings on those skis, but I'm certainly not an expert. If any the Volkls most likely, the Black Diamonds... someone else can probably chime in.

Plug the holes... Mount the new ones so that you clear at least a cm from old holes... That's it. But that's a crime! You should try those Superloop bindings first! (yellow and black)
If you want to get rid of them, let me know...

Re: Telemark Ski and binding question
Like they say... You can put any bindings on anything...
You might have a hard time trying to figure out the sweet spot for alpine though... Not sure you can find boot center marking on those (very nice!) oldies, and not sure the narrowest point would help... Better learn telly...
Hey, drop me a note if you wanna get rid of those beaten up red heels and bars...! Pleeeaaase...!
