They told me that I had to wear the short funny-shaped skis. Noch Zwei:

1. Me skiing in the 1970s with real skis.

2. Atmosphere.

In closing, Woodsy, let me invite you, Steve Mahre, Phil Mahre, and everyone on TT to visit my website. I link to it below my TT avatar.

How funny! Thanks for posting. No independent leg action or balanced, fluid stance. Legs look rigid and appeared glued at the knees.

^^^That was impressive. I liked the ski twist video too, If I were an alpine skier that's how I'd do it. I've been doing the twist since the 61'.

I'm waaaay slow on the uptake, that footage is of Hansi racing before his singing career. Man, this OldSchool47 guy is SHARP.

Yeah that dude rips that slalom course, but his music kinda makes me appreciate gangster rap... He reminds me of David Hasselhoff.

Not sure if I should thank you for posting this, Wooderson. It's raining and gloomy here in Tremblant, and I just spent way too much time watching this 70's-style dervish, which led me to google Hansi and "Schlager" music. Well, if that ain't "Misty water-coloured memories of the way we were!" Well, not the way I was, 'cause I couldn't afford resort skiing in the 70's. But I sure do like those shaggy white winter boots of Herr Hinterseer. Snakey-hip monoski-but-on-tandems-instead style of skiing is a lost art that I boldly predict is going to be the next big thing right up there with cheese fondu and polypropylene condoms.

skiing is a lost art
Ask people who Hansi Hinterseer is and most will say "Austrian singer" or "chick magnet." They forget that Hansi was a world-class slalom skier who in the 1970s revolutionized the sport with his athletic style and tight turning radius through the gates. IMO, Hansi is the greatest slalom racer that the Austrian "Ski Machine" has produced.

What say ye, Woodsmeister? Voices echoing throughout the maple forests of the Northeast say that in your youth you were a national-caliber slalom racer. Is Hansi the best Austrian slalom racer ever?
