Anyone using "lobster mitts/ trigger finger mitts?

My index finger is trashed for awhile, and these look like they'd accommodate the issue well. I'd be looking for maximum warmth and durability... any experience with any of these? I've read up on several out there, but looking for first hand (no pun intended) feedback.

I have been using a pair of lobster mitts for nordic touring both on and off trail for about 25 years. Very warm,very durable. Hands have always stayed warm in temps down to -5 f. If it is colder than that, I am probably not skiing. I do make sure to dry them after each use. Mine are marketed by swix. On close inspection,the palms are showing some wear,and I may have to retire them in the near future.

I've seen the Swix; they look good for xc use, but I need something more durable... at least a full leather palm. They'd see some hard use - backcountry, resort occasionally, bushwhacking, trail work, etc. Also need maximum warmth.

I used the lobster mitts(Swix) for a year and gave them to my son. I wasn't too impressed. I use a Swix heavy weight glove most of the time. They're 12 years old and are good down to around 0. I have some Frost River mitts that are nice for colder days. I just got back from a couple of hours skiing the back 40 ( -4 degrees) and used my snow blower mitts made by Kinsco. They cost $25 at any hardware store. They're roomy and have internal finger sleeves that work well. When it gets real cold I can slip a pair of light alpaca fiber liners in them for extra warmth.

I have used Hestra Army Leather Heli Ski for the past 6 years. They are not Gore Tex (though those do exist), but I have never gotten wet hands and seem very durable. They are very warm, with a removable woolen liner glove. When its not very windy or cold I prefer much lighter weight gloves (gore windstopper) but the Hestras are always in my backpack, when I am touring. Much warmer than five finger gloves in my experience.

I use a pair of leather lobster mitts with fleece linings made for chainsaw use in cold weather. They may be less expensive than ones made special for skiing

Lobster mitts? Hum, I wouldn't like to wear em in the spring when the hungry bears are awakening...

when I switch from gloves to mitts, I'm going to have all my fingers in the same place, not relegating one to be off by himself. I don't need to shoot a gun, or do lobstering, so a traditional mitt will be my choice.

I don't think I would like a mitt that had your thumb in the same space as your fingers, that just seems like it would be hard to grip poles
