OMG TTS Question

First is the SkiTrab Race on my old Storms that I use to skin around at home. No heel throw at all. I didn't expect this minimal toe binding to last but it is still perfect.

Second is TTS with black Voile springs and Dynafit toes that are my eastern ice skis

Third my pride and joy Moonlight binding on Moonlight Eagles. OMG heels replace the Moonlight prong heels that migrated to my Storms. Red springs are off.

Fourth is my wide touring skis with the awesome Gara Titan toes, OMG heels and long red springs. Pivot blocks are hidden by my very effective anti icing mod.

What boot size do you wear?

Mondo 25.5 but I have 2 pairs of boots with different sole length. My TXPros are 299 and Defenders are 307. A few turns on the springs and I can switch boots np.

TXPs have Intuition wrap liners and the Defenders the orig lace up hut boot liner. I'm loving the Defenders these days despite the lower performance level. Folks say that the bellows softens up a lot on those and I think I agree but it hasn't made any noticeable difference. I might try putting a thin carbon sheet under the liner next season, see what that feels like.

My experience is no doubt tempered by being light 130#, shortish 5'8, old 74 and not very aggressive. I will ski almost anything but at my pace.

Rodbelen- Your question about boot size is certainly relevant as spring extension is somewhat limited. I find the spring preload strongly affects the release.

Ok good to know... I wear MP 25 boots. And I do not want restrictive springs compression. Sometimes, I ski high, sometimes low... What your best set-up for that kind of purpose? Thanks for the precious input...

With smaller boot size and red springs you will have full range in any slot. The rear pivot is very very active. Early versions of OMG TTS mounting pattern had a gap between blocks and toe binding but later ones moved it forward as much as toe binding allowed. If you do mostly alpine turns that is fine and I guess if you are skiing very hard. When I started with TTS I found the forward position best but have come to favour the middle. The Moonlight binder is so easy to change I do vary between all 3 positions. Inserts are great to have on any non removable heel pivot so you can check it all out for yourself.

I am a little confused: for me «forward» is close to the toe piece... That would be #1. Further back would be #3. So #1 is less active and #3 very active.

You are correct. My lisdexia was kicking in. The closer the pivot is to the tech pins the less active. Vertical distance affects the activity differently from horizontal too. Roughly “2mm of horizontal change is like 1mm of vertical.”

Ok thanks... So if you use black cartridge in the first position (close to the toe piece) with your boot size, do you have enough margin to ski both low and high? To sum it up: are you going to bottom out the spring? Thanks again Zonca: I really appreciate...

You would be close to or at bottom front position but ski will bend a bit after spring bottoms and knee can contact ski. I think you will feel the bottom. You never really want to go past horizontal shin really so this would be an extreme condition.
