Oh Tanney Baum, Oh Tanney Baum

In a few weeks time we’ll have the autumn equinox, and once that has passed the Christmas season will be upon us in no time at all. To get myself in the mood I decided to write my own version of the popular Christmas song, “O Tannenbaum”.

Oh Tanney Baum, Oh Tanney Baum.

Once there was a chap called Tanney,
Who as a child was quite uncanny.
He consequently had no friends,
And stood aloof from social trends.

Tanney grew to be a man,
But still without a single fan.
Attempts at friendship were rebuffed,
When people told him to get stuffed.

His life, it seemed, was in a Strudel, ( = vortex/whirlpool)
Until he met a chap called Google,
Who, having fingers in every pie,
Brought in Wiki, by and by.

Supported by his new-found friends,
Tanney swore to make amends.
He’d get his own back on those turds,
Who took no notice of his words.

The internet was a perfect way
To show the world that he held sway,
For he could hide behind his keys,
And type whatever he did please.

Then one day a lad called Rass,
Shoved a rocket up our Tanney’s ass,
And made off at a healthy pace,
As Tanney soared towards outer space.

Far above the stratosphere,
Even though there’s no one near,
Tanney still is busy typing,
His fingers moving fast as lightning.
Every hour another thread,
Although his battery’s long since dead.

The moral of this little ditty,
Even though it might seem witty,
Is try to exercise decorum
When posting in an online forum.
