That's a bummer Rod. Do you think switching to a non 3pin cable binding like a riva or chilli would prevent it?

It's too bad when you have the boot that you like but there is a durability issue. My wife and I had that problem only one time with our 20 year old Merril Ultras. We booted up a steep section for a few hundred yards and when we got to the top all four of our boot soles had split at that spot.
