Sbounds...leathers
Re: Sbounds...leathers
Ok, the winds were howling snow blowing, at about 8degrees. Taking garbage out to the garbage pit. Walked into 4-foot drift of windblown hardpack as the wind and snow hit my face. Had to turn around after10 feet and return with the garbage and realized that it would have to be done on skis. Wind has to die down before we hit the hills. TM

Good skiing out there. Deep powder that allows you to surfatize and pop down in for all kinds of fun. I skied around camp while the boys did tons of skiing higher up with "snow fields" of untouched deep soft powder. Wide skis skied it easily and my skinnier ones did the deed. Good food great skiing and excellent brew. Good day!

DaMn....Easy ski out with "pink wax" that gripped on the mile up and broke free on the down. Wicked powder as the skis elevated above the snow or seemed to. Very fast seemingly total control but aware that the powder could take you deep. Delight, uh, until it slid over a rounded ledge where.....Ski hit a horizontal and I pitched forward maintaining when a second branch down in there put me in a superman dive. All in all, one ski didn't have a pin binding. Huh? Dug here and there then saw the binding was attached to my leather boot with screws hanging out. Bummer! Eventually took out some rope and lashed the bindings to the ski and could put my boot onto the binding attached precariously. Well, it could rest on the ski with rope across the bottom. Left ski did most of the skiing with the rope bottom trying to slap me up. Man, it's great out there!!!!!!! TM

Powder was dynamite yesterday. Fast, easy turns, cloud like resistance. Instant turnability, wow. Trees glowing and some snow blowing made for way laid back turns. Course that unseen branch that ripped my too dark glasses off my face and gobbled up one lens was an awakening. Never saw that! Oh well! TM

It's about a mile and a half out to camp. Door had blown off so there was a 7-foot drift spilling into the Ledge camp. Far side had started buckling from the roof load, but the stove soon had the rest of the place heated and melting. Snow outside is very deep around 5 feet pf base. Everybody had a great ski with tons of turns. Fewer for me many more for them. Ski out was a blast on low to moderate slope with everything rounded and smooth. Go anywhere down anything and easy turning. What a blast. If the base holds up, we could get a long-extended season. Will see. TM
