PFAS ski wax revealed, banned

Post by Cannatonic » Fri Oct 11, 2019 4:13 pm

Am I the only one who didn't realize Swix F4 has super-toxic PFAS chemicals in it? They are all getting banned - all the fluro-based ski waxes - new F4 this year does not have "fluoros" in it anymore. I'm pretty much in shock - I had no idea I was touching PFAS with my hands when I used F4. Not happy with the wax industry for this!

I believe PFOS or PFAS, are used in many products we use today including Teflon and Gore-Tex. I am not sure if it is a valid perspective or hyperbole, but I have read these two chemicals have similar bio-deterioration rates to granite. They are calling them “for ever compounds”.
There has been a major edit to my local fish consumption advisory. My concern is that we are just starting to look for these chemicals. I guess that time will tell just how geographically widespread this problem will be. It will likely be beyond my lifetime before the effect on the environment will be accurately accessed.
