Re: Lundhags Boots

My Lundhags Guide boots just arrived from Sweden. Size 45, my US shoe size is 10.5, and my Alpina Alaska boots are size 45. I could barely squeeze into the Lundhags at all, even with just sock-liners on. They are at LEAST a full size too small- too narrow everywhere, and an absolute toe crusher. Iro...

Re: Alpina Alaska Boot Treatment

Doing my part to add to the confusion... Zamberlan makes a product specific for nubuck and split leather. Every time I have driven over to Zamberlan to get a bottle of the nubuck spray- they are out of it : ( I'm due for a trip to Zamberlan, maybe this weekend, as my Lundhags should arrive from Swed...

Is this a ski? The Sporten Free Walk

To ski or not to ski is this a ski? That is the question.

Re: Voilé and Kästle selling XCD in North America

ConsilSport, a Czech company, owns Sporten skis and their Czech factory. This factory produces their own Sporten skis as well as all the Asnes skis, and it produces the Kästle skis. ConsilSport owns the Kästle brand, they have for several years. They also own Sporten. So this group is not new to the...

Re: Pictures, pictures and pictures!

Got some turkey turns in today. https://i.imgur.com/S8UH8yc.jpg Lucky you! Berg heil. Here, the Dolomites are unusually warm, warmer up on the mountain this morning (4° C) than in the valley (2°C). I noticed flying over the Alps and Dolomites a couple of weeks ago (Dusseldorf-Venice) the snow line ...

Re: Watreproofing Nubuck boots

fisheater Ah Zamberlan. They are ten minutes from here, right at the base of the Piccolo Dolomites, the foothills of the main Dolomite ranges (Brenta and Oriental) with peaks up to 2259m ( 7,500ft) in the Piccole. Zamberlan have a nice mountain shop next to their factory with great prices on "blemi...

Re: Watreproofing Nubuck boots

HI Cliff, I agree- it is much easier to waterproof full grain leather with a smooth surface. I wonder if it is a breathability issue? But I would think that if the boot is completely coated in wax (as Lundhags suggests doing) that would be a moot point. Scarpa says the Guide BC is made of- "Perwange...

Lundhags shop in USA?

BRAV (formerly- the SWIX Group) the group that owns the brands- Lundhags, Swix, Helsport, etc. opened a retail store in the US in August '23 . So maybe you can get ski boots from them? (or not, then why not?)? There is a contact here for the store manager, ask him.

Re: Booze

Sometimes Jaegermeister. Too much can affect performance! More than a little Native American in my gene pool. After Christmas I like some of my wife’s hi-test egg-nog in the truck on the drive home. Three of the four food groups: carbs, protein, alcohol. Jaeger is great for straightening the curves...

Re: Ideal ski for a long tour in variable conditions.

@randoskier while I respect your touring knowledge, this tour can easily be completed on waxable skis. Some of us don’t care for the glide of waxless skis. I have recently purchased a couple pair of waxless skis, because waxless skis have their place. Some of us truly enjoy the kick and glide of a ...
