Re: Leather care for Alico, Asolo, etc. telemark boots
I think those might be merrel xcd legends, judging by the padded cuff. I ski merrell ultras, and if I recall correctly, the legends were a step down in stiffness from the ultras.

Re: Karhu xcd gt full metal edge xc skis 62 54 59
Probably have more mileage on 210 karhu xcd waxables than any others in my quiver, but last year made an impulse buy on a set of 195 waxless fischer e99. Man do I live these baby's for the type of skiing I do- mostly ungroomed snowshoe or snowmachine trails that are twisty and turns and not wide eno...

Re: Can't control speed! Snowplough doesn't plough...
From the picture posted, this terrain looks like terrain that I have to use snowplow or survival turns. I certainly couldn't link turns in the terrain posted. I am sure others can. The op specifically asked about snowplowing. I am 6' 190lb. and have many different skis, but my favorite for this type...

Re: waxing strategy question
I do think many overthink it and in the case of glide waxes, unless you are an athlete skiing competitive events, wax choices are not that critical. I have(and use) swix, start, and toko glide waxes, along with graphite speed powders and fluorocarbon waxes from the old days. But for most of my offtr...

Re: Steel edge or not to steel edge? And other pulk sled snow stuff
As far as binding failure- I carry an emergency repair kit when in the backcountry- wood screws, steel wool, tie wire, voile straps, gorilla tape,multi-tool, spare ski tip and pole splints, etc. I only ski 3 pin or 3pin cable when in the backcountry. Yes, there is the possibility of duckbill failure(...

Re: Gaiters for skiing
Well, I am with jbtele, as I believe or gaiters are the gold standard. Never had a problem with the buckles. Have an old lightweight pair of nylon gaiters also, but gave up on them because the knot on the shoestring through the grommets would freeze up. To each his own. I guess.

Re: Made my own skis…mounting advice?
Wish I could advise you on binding mounting, just want to say that this making your own ski post is way cool, and anybody with the woodworking skills to build these is unlikely to screw up binding mount.

Re: 75mm binding too wide for my boot
As you stated previously, the fit may not matter much for the intended use on the asnes woodies in mostly flat terrain. I tend to agree. Look at nnn bindings. No sidewall there. If the duckbill is clamped tightly, should be little side to side movement,as long as pinholes are in good shape. I use sm...

Re: 75mm binding too wide for my boot
Curious what boot you are using. None of my telly/ bc boots fit in the old bindings.
