Those ezeefit booties bazillion suggested look like they protect the heel and partway at least up the ankle. I am going to try to find a pair and give them a try. Aside from occasional heel blisters,I have skinny ankles and this may help achieve a more secure fit at the ankle.

The only thing I have to add is that duct tape on the heel of your feet sometimes helps prevent blisters when wearing stiff boots.

Re: Wooden skis.com

Very generous offer by gt. A little too far for me, but those of you in the area ought to take advantage of gt's generosity. Those woodies might just have some life in them yet!

Re: What kind of wax is this?

Well, if you really want to get serious about this you will need a ski form, wax iron, scrapers and nylon, brass and horsehair brushes. For a new ski, iron in the warmest wax you have. After it cools, scrape with a plastic scraper til no wax seems present on the base. Then brush aggressively to furth...

Re: What kind of wax is this?

Can't really add to what has been posted above, other than agree with woodsersons suggestion of fingernail or melt point would be a good method of determining the glide wax comparisons. And don't overthink the waxing issue. It isn't all that critical unless you plan on competing in ski races. While ...

Re: Wooden skis.com

Looks like the old tried and true troll binings on your wife's skis. Still using some on my bonnas , had ABC victory cable bindings originally on my trysil knuts, swapped them out with 3pin Choinards.

Re: Wooden skis.com

A good question. I have 2 pairs of trysil knut woodies bought in 1976 on the same day. One set of 210's that have seen many winters of heavy use,and one set of 185's that have seen very little use. Today, camber is about equal, with the 210s being slightly stiffer. My ems woodies have less camber tha...

Wooden skis.com

Woodenskis.com has their skis for sale posted today. If you haven't skied wood, you better get on board. These aren't telemark skis, but for off trail kick and glide they are fantastic. Most come with 3pin bindings compatible for 12mm. duckbills, of which only alpina and whitewoods are commonly avai...

Re: Thinner duckbills

Yeah, I now remember my old silva and later garmont 3 pin boots were cheaply made and nonsupportive. Skied the whitewoods today and actually I would say they are an improvement over the older thinsoled boots. While I agree system bindings and boot are way superior, just can't bring myself to put them...
