Re: New FT62 Q/A — How true should new skis be?

The new Nordic Twist? This is nuts. Call Asnes and they will send you another pair post haste. Ask me how I know. Trying to talk myself out of calling them again, truthfully. My replacement Ingstad waxless are railing like crazy in the tips and tails. I’ve filed them twice and they’re still sproutin...

Re: Asnes Tindan 86 Ski Review

Anybody been getting out on their Tindans? It’d be great to hear from those that have actually made a few turns on em!? Hyper Vectors are calling...

Re: Asnes Tindan 86 Ski Review

Thank you, Woods. Your comments ring true and your use of the Universal Ski Dialect is easily understood by me. That is all sounding very nice indeed. Perhaps St Nick can swing through Germany and grab a pair of 187s. Read something interesting- if “free shipping” were a country, it would be the fou...

Re: Asnes Tindan 86 Ski Review

Thank you for your comments. I understand that there are quite a few skis out there that fit the bill- it’s the tips and skin lock that really speak to me. These two features are very handy in the AK range in my experience. The approaches/overland travel must be as efficient as possible when a beaut...

Re: Asnes Tindan 86 Ski Review

Curious if anyone has mounted these with tech bindings and been in the Alpine with them. Steep neve or ice? How is the edge hold on hard snow? Torsional rigidity? Lots of sidecut makes me a bit wary, but it doesn’t tell the whole story I reckon. Looking for a new mountaineering ski for the big peaks...

Re: Asnes Ingstad BC 2018 Ski Review

Yes- the xtralite. A littletoolite. A very fun ski to shred anything, so long as there’s not too much soft snow and you’re not worried about covering country. I found them to be much more nimble than Ingstads as far as turns are concerned, but really they’re not in the same class as far as a mountai...

Re: Asnes Ingstad BC 2018 Ski Review

These photographs date from last February. $100 bills folded up fit nicely into the cracks. The mountain people at Åsnes sent me a pair of new skis, mistakenly waxless, but very quickly. I didn’t bicker but was somewhat disappointed- waxing is one of my meditations. However, I too would like to cast...

Re: Musings on Wax

Last night it snowed an inch in an hour. It was 22 below zero at the ground. All quiet except for the flakes like pretzel salt hitting my parka and ricocheting off in spitting arcs in the sapphire light of my headlamp. It was like skiing through the dunes of the Namib. Wax was irrelevant. The snow s...

Re: Musings on Wax

I come forth from the mountains... You must creat the hardest, smoothest Base possible for glide. Harder and smoother than Ice. Like the pupil of a raven. Scraper must be like kanna or nomi, sharpness is a theoretical place that cannot be seen, only experienced. Scraper must be flat and smooth there...

Re: Do I need a rebar?

Mine have been very loose for a year almost- I can wiggle both a lot, one side probably 3mm!? The rubber there is trashed Enough to see that the wire makes a 90 degree bend shortly after entering the rubber, and heads back towards the heel... I spect they are molded in and may have an additional ben...
