Re: Pictures, pictures and pictures!
This season has been incredible for me as I explored several XCD ski trails in CO and a few in WY, did a ski hut trip, and towards the end of the season, took a tele lesson. Thats me in Loveland last weekend, on excursions, targas, and piste stinxs. 29665597_10156241320396948_4553742724389266063_o.j...

Re: XCD and NNN BC newbie
I look at (non-Alpine) skiing in much the same way as biking. X-country is close to road biking. You get in a rhythm and fly. Distance and pace are the governing issues. It is chiefly a cardio exercise but, unlike biking, gives you lots of upper body exercise too. Always working to beat that 10 km/...

For Sale: Atomic Rainiers, NNN-BC manual bindings SOLD
The Atomic Rainiers are (88-60-78), and 192 cm in length. They served me well for my first ever ski season. But have now upgraded to shorter skis. They are drilled for 3-pins. My wife changed from NNN-BC manual to 3-pins, so selling these as well. Both the skis and the bindings are in great conditio...

Re: Alico Ski March Boot
Hrishi, before gambling on the fit of mail-order boots maybe consider checking out used equipment at consignment stores before you leave Colorado. More tele gear here than elsewhere. Boulder and Denver must have some treasures, but I never get around to checking there. I've found some great equipme...

Point taken!lowangle al wrote: I said a long time ago that if you want to ski better ski your wife's skis. You are better off with skis too short than too long IMO.
Can't wait to try them.

Sierra snow qualities? XCD Trail recommendations?
As much as I would have loved to continue skiing in Colorado, I made career decision to move to California (southern CA, at that). I have lived there before and hiked a lot in the Sierras, but never ventured out on snow. They were also the drought years. For those familiar with skiing in the Rockies...

Re: Skiing down narrow, steep, switchbacky hiking trails
Update- got a new pair of 165 cm Madhshus Epochs that were on sale for my wife. She hasn't skiied on them yet but the flex is incredibly softer than the S-88s. Will mount 3-pin cables on them. This way the skis could be used with leather boots (which are next on the list) for gentler terrain and wit...
