Re: the 12th Man

There actually is a book entitled "The Twelfth Man" by Scott and Haug that provides a detailed account of this story with emphasis on the people who both betrayed the mission and helped him escape. The film is "based" on this book and sticks fairly close to the story, with the added drama of the obs...

Eight millimetres of sidecut, not double, not "one and a half" but zero camber and willow bindings: https://www.youtube.com/wat...

Re: Selecting My First Brand-New Skis (Backcountry Touring)

Hi,

I'm using Alfa Guard Advance GTX boots (now Skarvet) and I would be pleased to add my impressions of the Admundsen Fram to the Review section, perhaps after some trips with "reviewing" in mind ;)

Cheers,

Dave

Re: Selecting My First Brand-New Skis (Backcountry Touring)

For the "for what it's worth" file: I started skiing in terrain like yours -Kapuskasing Ontario, flat and in the boreal forest, with skis similar to the Amundsen (the original stiffly double cambered Europa 99's 210cm with aluminum edges). Lakes, snowmobile tracks across the muskeg, camp service roa...

Yes, the Advance is quite expensive. The Perform and Core are more reasonable (but not cheap).
