Re: Skiing Bigger Descents in the XCD Style
Hi jtb - worthy questions indeed. I think the debate over the practicality of using legacy XCD gear when modern options abound is apt and useful. The short answer is I will never fully replace my modern backcountry setups - Endeavors (I do not own Objectives) and Blizzard Zero G 95s with TTS (skied ...

Re: Skiing Bigger Descents in the XCD Style
L That sounds rad and I'd love to hear how it goes. Also if you're serious about adams south rib/southwest chutes I'd be down to do it with you on similar gear (might motivate me to actually get those SR61BCs... but to mount xplore or pins...?) Let's be in touch, I'm looking at next May/June as a po...

Re: Skiing Bigger Descents in the XCD Style
I do want to get those on some mountains - there's also a skimo uphill series here in town and I'm thinking I might give the Rabb and their X-Skins a try in a few of those races. Not so much to compete (by any stretch) but with the idea to see if I can gauge some interest - both personally and commu...

Re: Skiing Bigger Descents in the XCD Style
Thanks for the notes everyone: I skied off Shasta with Asolo extremes and 70ish underfoot skis a long time ago. In good snow no problem. In bad snow sufferage. For what you are thinking of I think you’d have a better time on a Voile Endeavor while still skiing your T4s. If there’s significant skinni...

Skiing Bigger Descents in the XCD Style
Hi all - I've long (well, the last decade) skied mostly in the heavy/aggressive downhill telemark manner - resort/resort touring/ backcountry. Which I love. But I've lately become enchanted with skiing in the cross-country downhill style, or at least making descents on that gear (with plastic boots)...

Re: Worth it to wait for new Tx Pro?
fisheater boiled it down well. The new Tx Pro is the best modern touring boot telemark has yet seen. The range of motion from the vastly updated walk mode and the much lighter weight marks a paradigm shift. That said, the downhill skiing sensation at the cuff/scafo interface is quite rigid. Style c...

Re: Telemark Voices
Hi all - A quick plug for a couple of new pieces on https://www.telemark-voices.com - Do You Need to Hoard A Telemark Boot Quiver? Parts I & II - background info in both parts is probably known to folks around here, but maybe not so much to the scene at large: Part I - While we continue to turn blue...

Re: Is wildsnow.com defunct now?
Thanks for the plug spopepro . The new WildSnow is indeed yet to emerge from hiatus but it in all likelihood will resemble the rest of the AllGear Digital sites when it comes back to life (the Ikon Pass paid post, the last article the site has posted, is probably just the beginning of more ads/artic...

Re: Telemark Voices
Hey everyone - just wanted to plug for my recent post on what gear newcomers should look into. https://www.telemark-voices.com/post/it-s-2023-what-telemark-gear-should-you-start-on I want to thank Tom M. here for giving me some great insights into XCD, as well as Craig Dostie and Josh Madsen for gra...
