Re: FS: Fischer S-Bound 98 EZ-Skin 179

Hey there. Old thread but would these be appropriate for my 6'2", 220# frame? I think 179cm would be too short for you. I'm 5'8" 135-145lbs and the 169cm S112 is perfect...which means the 179cm S98 would be pretty good for me (I have 185cm in other narrower skis which are a touch long but still tur...

Re: Pictures, pictures and pictures!

Skiing in august. tough day... 6 mile approach 4500ft vertical. lots of boulders to get here...only to find breakable crust. but can't complain, it was sunny most of the day. Lower Spire, Alaska. 12 months of skiing complete. You're a monster! I love it! Keep it up and keep posting stoke Thanks, Wo...

Re: Asnes Falketind 62 versus Rabb 68

maybe part of the problem with Asnes is that when they test them before selling them, the testers are professional skiiers...so the "flaws" are not noticeable or discovered... what I find is that pros don't need top notch skis to get the job done. I've seen skiiers here in alaska use xc/nnn gear and...

Re: When do skis go on sale?

I figured the fischer crown skis were going to be not as well made as previous generation... I was initially going to replace my S112s with the S98s... My S112 from 5 yrs ago are still working despite coreshots, worn fishscales and multiple dents/chips. My S125 is in great condition. These will be h...

Re: Wildly speculative talk about Asnes 21-22 lineup: Otto/FT62

wow. that's a harsh review. but I think you are right. I try so hard on the asnes ...other than being lightweight and beautiful, the ft62 is a very narrow focused ski that only excels on perfect snow...which is a small fraction of the winter here. I'm glad I didn't get the Rabb 68. the mt51 is great...

Re: Wildly speculative talk about Asnes 21-22 lineup: Otto/FT62

The new Rabb 68 is in stock on sportalbert would love to hear some reviews and comments this winter. I believe the old Rabb was not that impressive. Maybe the new one will be an all arounder? the 68mm waist is a good width. Hopefully turns well like the ft62, but better on variable snow than the ft6...

Re: Newish XC skier looking for suggestions on getting deeper out there

I live in Alaska, so I think your conditions are similar and probably more forgiving in NW Montana. bc nnn is fine. you dont need heel risers. they are light and the boots are decent for shoulder/late season which require some hiking/scrambling. nnnbc boots better than 3pin duckbill when challenging...

Re: Pictures, pictures and pictures!

Congrats Joe, are you gonna keep it going for another year? Thanks! probably won't be able to do it. I'm going to spend most of september travelling. Going to Taos, NM and San Francisco this month. It will be hard to squeeze in a day of skiing in september. However, weather permitting, that 2nd wk ...

Re: Help with GEAR for newb FIRST POST

don't go cheap on the skins. they can last a long time if you take care of them. Good performance and easy on and off is important and makes the sport more enjoyable. If you dont want to spend too much on them, try the Black Diamond Kicker skins, comes in various sizes (50mm, 65mm, etc)...can get th...
