Re: New to xcd, need help figuring out gear for rivervalley exploring
I get it when you say real ski. I've been looking at this type of ski, like the rossi bc 90 or G3 findr. I'm not looking for a high alpine tele ski, but the vids I've seen of people ripping through powder in the trees make me realize how maneuverable this setup I. Just a bit spendy, not quite the pr...

Also I found this:
Looks like a fun time, hes using sorel boots. My Salomon x adv 6 boots would be a bit stiffer.

Re: New to xcd, need help figuring out gear for rivervalley exploring
What about the OAC xcd 160 ski? How would that compare?
Also I saw this video of a Finnish guy catching some fun terrain with them in their snowboard like binding.

Re: New to xcd, need help figuring out gear for rivervalley exploring
I like the idea of the garmont excursion, 3pin binding and a wide ski. This may seem like overkill, but if it allows me to have turn confidence in any low angle terrain, it sounds like the ticket. https://www.dropbox.com/s/dorpt27s01o1xmg/Photo%202016-09-30%2C%2012%2027%2032%20PM.jpg?raw=1 If your ...

Re: New to xcd, need help figuring out gear for rivervalley exploring
Thanks for the information Tom! I've been catching your videos on you tube about the s bound 98s. Looks like a great setup. I dont want it to be a downhill full on tele setup, but good enough steering so that I'm not doing crazy French fries into the bushes. I'd say ease of downhill control would be...

Re: New to xcd, need help figuring out gear for rivervalley exploring
Thanks for the heads up, I'm venturing into new terrain when it comes to ski lengths, boots and bindings. I want to hit that sweet spot of not too slow/ not under powered valley setup.

New to xcd, need help figuring out gear for rivervalley exploring
Hi im new to the XCD ski thing. I've had the idea come to me a few times in the past, but didn't know how to vocalize my needs so I could get the right hardware. I live in a river valley city with plenty of rolling forest hills and trails. Mountains are a few hours away, so I my xcd setup should be ...
