Re: Made my own skis…mounting advice?

Nice work! I mount all my own skis and have never used a jig. I either print a paper pattern for the mount holes or use the binding itself. Using methodical measurements, drawing a lenthwise centerline and either a boot center or pinline perpendicular to that helps (I use a water soluble overhead ma...

Re: 2024-2025 Winter Predictions for US

Yeah, it’s looking like very similar ocean current, oscillation pattern conditions to two years ago. Probably a late start to the year but possibility for big, big snow. The only question (for me in Cali) will be how far down the storm tracks dig and how much moisture they have. There’s almost no wa...

Re: Best skin for SB98

I’ll try and find out for sure, but the Fischer offering sure looks like pomoca climb 2.0, which is a fantastic skin for what you’re describing. Most mfgs are rebranding coltex, pomoca, contour, or kohla and not manufacturing carpet themselves. Edit: oop I lied. They’re made by kohla, which is sensi...

Re: Skiing Bigger Descents in the XCD Style

That sounds rad and I'd love to hear how it goes.

Also if you're serious about adams south rib/southwest chutes I'd be down to do it with you on similar gear (might motivate me to actually get those SR61BCs... but to mount xplore or pins...?)

Re: Skiing Bigger Descents in the XCD Style

I’ve skied up to 35deg slopes in ingstads. I think they are a good ski but åsnes WL pattern is endlessly disappointing. But those are pretty close to the panoramas you’re on. I’ve thought hard about picking up a pair of sr61 bc skis and voiding some warranties for exactly this kind of skiing, but ha...

Where are you skiing? The type of snow you’ll be on most of the time will help a lot with a recommendation.

Re: Elan Ripstick 88 vs Atomic Maverick 86c

You have lots and lots of options. I haven't skied these, but the ripstick 88 is very well loved, and I know some tele folks who are among them. Haven't heard the same buzz around the maverick. The other ski that gets a lot of love is the blizzard brahma (take your pick 82 or 88) and blizzard skis c...

Re: Feedback after Greenland pulka trip (pic heavy)

Congrats! Great pictures and great trip!

How’d the hille tent work for you (looks like maybe a keron?) I’ve been considering the nammatj for times where my pyramid won’t cut it.

Re: Style

What I got out of his videos is to keep your skis weighted throughout the turn and skiing with both skis equally. Agreed that this is actually the only thing that really matters. How to get this done is subtilely different depending on conditions, speed, ski flex, boot stiffness, binding activity, ...

Re: Style

Yeah, you're seeing it right. I'd say that's typical for groomed/ice that races are made of. Some weight down the fall line is always good, but if you're trying to carve turns on firm stuff, as far forward as you can get is pretty good. One thing *I* notice about the brief bit of FIS tele stuff I wa...
