Re: Anybody here done the TDL?
I had dreams once of doing the Tour de Laurentides, which I think is now called the Traverse de Laurentides. It is -- or was -- a very demanding annual x-c tour in Quebec, mainly french-speaking Quebecois on skinny waxable skis. (They frowned on waxless skis as they were not fast enough...doing 30+...

Re: Snow tracker
At the risk of sounding like a stereotypical telemark skier, it's an epic 4/20 pow day at the Montagne Noire in St-Donat-de-Montcalm, dude... 10-15 cm of fresh snow on top of a *solid* base... E99s turning on a dime everywhere north of 600m altitude...

Re: Snow tracker
For La Blanche do you have to hike for a while or there is snow from the parking lot? There should still be enough snow to ski all the way in, unless the residents have decided to plow the access road. Possibly some "trous d'eau" in the first few km, but I can't imagine they have less snow up there...

Re: Snow tracker
Still at least 30cm on the ground above 400m altitude here in the lower Laurentians and due to freeze up again this week, so we should have another week or two north of Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts and should be able to ski the Montagne Blanche until early May. I bought a large quantity of klister on cle...

Re: Pictures, pictures and pictures!
Plenty of snow left in Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, but it's getting too soft for E99s:

Re: Brother, can you spare a Falketind?
Interesting! I've found that when conditions are good enough for wax, I can ski anything I want to ski on my E99s. So I am thinking something wide with scales might be better suited to the marginal conditions I was using my FT62s in. I really like the FT62s as downhill skis, and on hard-packed trail...

Re: Pictures, pictures and pictures!
Somebody was asking about glacial erratics... here's a prime specimen. Plenty more where that came from.

Brother, can you spare a Falketind?
So, this happened, to one of my FT62s: IMG_7310 (1).JPG It seems highly unlikely I will be able to get this replaced under warranty, so I thought I might ask... is there anyone out there who has also broken one of their 172cm FT62s and might want to give or sell me the other one? Left or right, red ...

Re: Preferred clothing?
It's probably a bad idea, and I have heard and heeded all the warnings about cotton, but for tooling around in the woods for a few hours in Blue Extra weather I'm often in jeans, a long-sleeve wool base layer, and a wool button-down shirt. The jeans in question fit snugly over Alpina Alaskas so no g...
