SUPERCOMP that's the name I couldn't remember.
Not me in photo, but funny, looks like he's about to crash.

Re: Inner knee/hamstrings pain when telemarking?
One of the worst things for your knees is a boot that is canted forward when you are on a flat or low angle slope. Common with most plastic boots.
Also sitting back when you ski.

Re: Merrell leather boot questions
I had a pair, probably mid 1980's the original inner boot was a lace up wool liner. The inner boot you have might have come from their next boot which was a leather boot with a taller plastic cuff, might have been called a Merrell Extreme, everything was called extreme in the late 1980's. I used the...

Another vote here for it's your technique not the gear. Yes, bigger skis and boots will make down hill easier, it just depends what experience your looking for. I ski at what is considered a steep X- country area, Crosscut out of Bozeman, my favorite ski is a Rossignol WC C1 classic using an X10 car...

Re: "You got old gear, man."
Your gear isn't the problem, spend your money on getting more days in on what you have.
4 or 5 days a season will get you nowhere. You need to get on them 4 or 5 days a week.

Re: Anybody recognize these bindings?
Back in their day I used that binding on Canada Heli access huts trips. The knock on them is the short compression springs, easy to max out, could rip binding out of ski. I seldom fell back in those days, never had a problem. Still have a pair on some old K2 world piste. Come to think of it I broke ...

Re: Noob in Yellowstone considering Alpina Discovery 68, Alpina XP, Xplore, etc?
There are not many groomed trails in Yellowstone Park. My recommendations are a way to have fun without picking your self up out of the snow so often. While I love to use a good kick wax it takes good technique to make it work, which beginners never have. Buy used gear, after you learn or ski with a...

Re: Noob in Yellowstone considering Alpina Discovery 68, Alpina XP, Xplore, etc?
I learned how to ski in Yellowstone. If you are working out of Mammoth the snow pack is thinner with lots of elk tracks and beds to ski through, you will need a ski with metal edges, and for a beginner get fish scales. Forget all the camber talk. Something around 60mm-80mm wide under foot. The wider...
