Not a lot to add here except that Voile waxless models have had sintered glide zones in the past, and an obvious seam between the glide and patterned sections of their bases.
Did that change at some point?

Re: skis for 70+ and cautious
For the person in question, the most controllable skis on the market and the safest, most controllable boots and bindings are called for. Any of Voile's fishscale skis, with tech bindings and boots in the F1 class would fill those blanks best. I know, it isn't Tele, and it isn't XC either. It is wha...

Re: The new Rottefella XPLORE OFFTRACK Binding System Review
I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that the structural parts of the binding are not plastic. The aluminum baseplate and wings look pretty good to me.
As for freezing, durability of the flexor parts, and the crazy price... Others will have to prove the design out, not me.

Re: The new Rottefella XPLORE OFFTRACK Binding System Review
K, so I've been following along with this new binding system development. Looks like a marginally improved NNN-BC replacement, with some super cheap and flimsy components and hiking boots resoled to match. So, good enough for XC-d on Forest Service roads, not too technical or expensive. Then the pri...

Re: 75mm or Tech for waxless?
I think the answer depends more on the exact boots in question. If the 75mm boots are T1's, and the Tech boots are F1's then the Tech boots would be the clear winner, hence get the binding suited to the softest flexing boots. Free pivot does in fact work quite well for K&G on wide waxless skis, mayb...

Re: Rottefella 3pin repeatedly breaking
Pretty sure Voile's 3 pin bindings are tougher. Mine have tolerated tons of use with T2 Eco boots, to the point that the boots' pin holes are now quite sloppy.

Er, I really didn't mean to trash on anyone else's input!
If you don't live where there are lots of Evergreens, you probably have nothing to worry about. And BTW, I've never had glue fail during use. Just when re applying the skins.

Re: The new Rottefella XPLORE OFFTRACK Binding system
Johnny, it is SO discouraging to hear there will be no fish scale Asnes models wider than available now. Are Voile skis not available in Norway??? Or does the Asnes crew just think, they can't compete with Voile's models? Like, something narrower than an Objective but still downhill capable... and a...

Re: Skins in spring snow... what can go wrong?
I specialize in skiing springtime snow. What I know about skins in wet snow? The glue can fail utterly if you try to stick them to the skis when they are still wet, so dry them first how ever you have to. This can be wiping them with a cloth, or letting the sun work on the bases for a few minutes. I...

Re: The new Rottefella XPLORE OFFTRACK Binding system
There MUST be an appropriate Norwegian joke for this situation. No vey did Ole, Sven and Olga never get new ski boots!
