Re: Ski deaths

It's possible. I don't know of any hard data, but most of the bad injuries in the Rockies seem to be avalanche related (natural snow, of course) and head injuries in ski areas - usually into mid-season. There was a recent death in Utah caused by a guy skiing through a snow gun, losing visual and hit...

Re: Anyone telemarking on the Volkl Blaze 94?

That’s helpful. Im still getting used to new school ski sizing. I used to tele on 177cm Atomic TM:EX at 5’5” and 162. Now I’m down to 150lbs and with 96mm underfoot, dropped down to a 164cm on the Ripstick. Excited to try them. I skied a few days last year in a 176 Liberty origin 96 and it was too ...

Re: Recommendations on helmets for long narrow oval heads

I'm not sure what shape my head is. Some helmets have fit tight front to back in the past. I'm currently wearing a Smith Vantage MIPs in a medium. They make it as a "round contour" helmet as well, so maybe the one I have is more oval. I tried a Quantum on - the sizing on that is bizarre, as in I nee...

Re: Anyone telemarking on the Volkl Blaze 94?

Hey, both of you in Colorado. There's talk of storms this week, but they've lied before. Saw that. Should add over a foot by the end of the week! Curious of your height and weight and how you like those 164cm Rustlers? Looks like the storm will hit, but maybe not as hard! I'll report. I'm 5'9" and ...

I bet Tom M would know. He's been pretty dialed in on this stuff.

Re: Asnes Ingstad vs. Fischer S-bound 98?

At the risk of being overly concerned for @Ira, I would be reluctant to offer advice that is in any way related to his medical concern. I have no idea as to the severity, or extent of his condition, or of the possible outcomes if he were to take a bad fall that injured his ankle. @Ira, I think the ...

Re: Anyone telemarking on the Volkl Blaze 94?

I've got the 106 Blaze sitting on my workbench, ready for some NTN bindings. I'm pretty curious too if they're going to be a good western side-country tele ski. I just posted a response to Algreen. I'm possibly the king of "well, I don't have THAT ski, but I have something similar". I expect the Bl...

Re: Anyone telemarking on the Volkl Blaze 94?

I've never skied the Blaze 94, but I'm on the Blizzard Rustler 9, Meidjo, TxPro and really like it. It appears the Blaze 94 has a similar rocker profile, but with a different sidecut design. I don't see why they wouldn't work well, just based on specs. Cool. What type of terrain/area are you skiing...
