Re: Pictures, pictures and pictures!

Gosh MSU, if you've got family up here you should come up for some skiing. March is a great time. I do plan to head up. I'm still tethered to the U of U health care system for now (mostly out of caution, as I think I'm pretty much stabilized). I'm hoping by about June or so, I'll be able to head up...

New Imax: Blue Angels

I love the guys working out. Clearly G-tolerance increases by smoking cigars and getting sh*tfaced regularly. Fried foods are good, too. If you can get your BP up to about 200/110, you're good to about 7G's just sitting there! Of course, it shaves a few decades off your life span. Totally worth it t...

Re: Pictures, pictures and pictures!

That was at Hatcher Pass by the Independence Mine, about an hour north of Anchorage. It's an awesome place, it has everything from xc and skate skiing groomed trails to 40 degree slopes. Thanks. My wife and I have been there a few times. Our older son and his wife are researchers for the University...

I agree, there are no hard and fast rules. There are good starting points! I like Swiss cheese on a Rubin sandwich, not so much on my skis.
Agreed, though after going from Meidjo to OX my skis look a bit Swiss-cheesy!

Re: Thoughts on Mounting Position & Knee Pads

There is some personal preference involved, of course. I mount boot center over recommended mounting point, if there is one. Skis that are not specific to telemark, or alpine skis, are usually wide enough in the shovels that tip dive has never been a problem for me. The times I have mounted aft of t...

Re: Style

I ski very marginal terrain with all sorts of hazards, obstacles, differing degrees of slopes etcetera, it's more like survival skiing a lot I guess. Feels like a-tele is what I would naturally be reverting to out of necessity. I need to stop buying gear and by a ski pass. A lift ticket to get time...
