Re: Evolution Uinta skis
I'm still skiing my Evolution Mountain Quests from 1991. I indeed remember the msrp for them at $600! They're damp, heavy (relative to the time period), split edged, and speckled based. They're very round flexing but supportive under foot. A fantastic bump ski! Not so good out of bounds. My Kazama O...

Re: Anyone telemarking on the Volkl Blaze 94?
TeleSteveAbasin, Thanks for the review. Do the tips need a de-tune, or are the tips maybe a bit wide. That's about my only concern with the 106. It looks like they might favor forward stance and pressure, which is easier done with a locked heel. Or, maybe I'm wrong. Let me know your thoughts. Anyway...

Re: Anyone telemarking on the Volkl Blaze 94?
I'm 5'6", 165 lbs, and chose the 172. I did think long and hard about the 165, but in the end, I figured I'd be side-country in mostly softer snow, so... I'm hoping the 172 doesn't take me for a ride in the occasional bump runs I venture in to before I bug out of the ski area at the top. Can't wait ...

Re: Karhu XCD Supreme
marco, in my day the Supreme was sold as a downhill tele ski. I skied them with Supercomps and pins at the ski area. But they're skinny enough, and if you go easy on the kick wax under foot, they'll be fine for what you're interested in. I still ski a similar ski (Kazama Outbacks) with double leathe...

Re: Anyone telemarking on the Volkl Blaze 94?
Thanks for chiming in Montana St Alum. I was also guessing they'd be good, but I'll find out if we ever get snow here in western Colorado.

Re: Anyone telemarking on the Volkl Blaze 94?
I've got the 106 Blaze sitting on my workbench, ready for some NTN bindings. I'm pretty curious too if they're going to be a good western side-country tele ski.

Re: Sizing a pair of NTN Scarpa TX-Pro on a 27.5cm foot
My longest foot measures 27.2, and I ski in two pairs of 26.5/27 TX Pros. The boots were uncomfortably small until I baked the liners, and now they're perfect. I "minimized" one pair for exclusively touring in the backcountry. Anyway, for a decent fit that won't be too hard to achieve, I think you'r...

Re: Beware the Ides.
Nice report! I hadn't thought about skis inside. What length are you getting away with. Are you paddling a Wolverine? I have a red Expedition and now a few ideas in my head. I've got Madshus Annums 175 cm and Voile Vectors 170 cm, both with inserts and a choice of 3-pin or Rivas, and additional inse...

Re: Garmont Gara for touring
She wears women's size 8 in most shoes. I can measure her feet later today if needed. The Excursion shell has plenty of room for her (almost two fingers), but the overall fit is a bit tight because of the thick stock liner.
