that would be great for corn season. i love my ft62.
i agree fischer sbound 98 is similar. that was my first xcd ski and started this whole thing.... very aggressive scale pattern.
fwiw - asnes waxless pattern leaves much to be desired so even if they made a waxless ft62 it might not do the trick.

maintain reserve buoyancy, in case one is unexpectedly pitched forward. This is a good description of how my stance developed--- faceplant prevention. They are now relatively rare in nice conditions-- but not in variability like any sort of surprise sun curst! Much (not all) of the telehiro stuff i...

I will play! JB TELE *For soft snow and soft boots as you and I are both skiing: - I have found success with a tighter and more rear-ski weighted stance. Stand barefoot on the floor -> sink a few inches by flexing the ankles and bending the knees so your knees are over your toes -> lift one foot off...

Re: Let's Talk Wax!
I'm in SLC with similar conditions. I use the swix line (special violet and red) for warmer kick wax conditions. But really scales work better in these conditions. Once you are into violet/red waxes, icing can become a real issue if temperatures drop (gain in elevation, move to the shade). Carry a p...

I had some particularly nice outings last week. Touring for turns in beautiful powder on new FT62, extreme grip and pristine glide with tip to tail polar wax ironed in (skins stayed in the backpack despite a 30 degree slope). Switched nnnbc to the red flexor up high for some extra fun on the descent...

Re: 2022 Falketind 62 Xplore 196 cm First Impressions
Yikes these are fun skis! First outing this afternoon Set up with NNNBC magnum + alfa guard. Waxed a la lilcliffy with tip to tail polar and extra blue heel forward. Conditions were 8 inches of dry powder on top on a fairly supportive base with temp around 25F. Skiing where I previously would have u...

Re: Which Fischer ski for BCXC/XCD on firm/icy snow conditions?
I have not had that great of experience with xcd gear on ice/hard crust. S98s feel somewhat too wide to edge effectively with leather boots on really hard surface. Narrower skis that are longer and stiffer also have turning limitations. I wonder about going with TN66 as you suggest (or even the narr...

Re: Adding Third Ski to Quiver - Falketind Xplore 62 or Fischer 98
I have the S98 from a few years back.... and just ordered the falketind on sale from varuste -envisioning the falketind will replace much of what I currently use the S98 for (touring for turns on nnnbc). Either ski would complement your current options well. There is some ongoing discussion of the f...
