fixing a broken tip
When I picked up those resued-from-the-dump E99 skis, I noticed the tip protector had fallen off from one of the tips. Yesterday I noticed it did more than fall. It broke off the tip, and the tip has a big tear in it. However, it is high enough in the tip that it probably should not cause any real i...

Re: torsional stiffness vs longitudinal stiffness
More torsional rigidity is possible, usually with more weight. Think of downhill skis right? but Christ they are heavy. The question is getting the TR without the extra weight, especially in XCD pursuits where we are not powered solely by gravity. I'm guessing the ski manufacturers have poured very...

Re: What year is this e99
A kind soul rescued a pair of these from the dump, and offered them up for grabs in a telemark group on FB. I drove over today and dropped off some local beers in exchange for these beauties. Feeling the camber and pop of these skis makes me realize why people like the E99 so much. I look forward to...

Re: torsional stiffness vs longitudinal stiffness
Riel, it sounds to me like you had too much longitudinal stiffness if you couldn't contact the snow with the belly of the ski. I wouldn't expect much of anything good to happen while the underfoot part of your ski is not in contact with the snow, regardless of torsional stiffness. I was side steppi...

Re: torsional stiffness vs longitudinal stiffness
...or have we already reached a point with our ski construction where torsional stiffness is not a limiting factor in design I don't know whether ski manufacturers are there already. I do know that for the 2018 Alpina Discovery 80 skis (equivalent to Fischer Traverse 78), I have encountered a situa...

Re: Fischer E-99 getting a makeover/name change?
Seems like Nordic rocker fights or contradicts double camber. Waiting for more ideal powder days to tell for sure. Definitely prefer climbing wax over fish scales or skins, although both have their place. Nordic rocker, combined with double camber and a stiff tip is an awesome combination. Nordic r...

Re: Some of you said Gammes don't turn, but...
I wasn’t aware that Fischer made an XCD binding. I thought they just rebadged the Rotte NNNBC manual and Magnum? Oh, I suppose that is possible and I just got confused by seeing Fischer and Rossignol "BCX" bindings up for sale with no hint of the Rottefella name, or of the NNN-BC binding type. NNN ...

Re: mounting super telemark bindings onto world piste skis
I am looking to mount Rottefella Super Telemark bindings onto K2 world piste ski (pre-drilled with 4 hole inserts). I would like to use the inserts that are already there. Does the Rottefella Super Telemark riser plate (link below), have a 4 hole pattern on the bottom to attach to the world piste s...

Re: Some of you said Gammes don't turn, but...
I think riel nailed it. Wasn’t there a law suit around Fischer allegedly ripping off Asnes skin attachment system? The lawsuit about the skins got settled years ago. I think what may be a larger factor here is that Fischer and Rossignol are selling NNN and NNN-BC compatible bindings, which took a m...
