Re: Some of you said Gammes don't turn, but...

It's very, very, very interesting to note that there is not one single mention of anything XPlore in the 2022 Fischer catalog... 8-) I wonder if Rottefella did not license it to them because Fischer is as much of a competitor as they are a customer? The companies they are working with seem to be ex...

Re: filling in negative fishscales

I was thinking the same thing for a pair I have and wondering if a base grind after all the p-Texing would be worth it? Also, I was thinking to pass a flame over the fish scale, before the p-Tex, to improve adhesion. Most of the fishscales are in what will be the kick zone, anyway. I plan to just i...

filling in negative fishscales

A while ago there were a whole bunch of cheap Asnes Sondre skis on eBay, some of which were nearly smooth on the bottom, and many of which had negative fishscales cut into them. I ended up with two pairs, a 210cm pair that was almost smooth on the bottom, and a 200cm pair that had fairly deep negati...

Re: Wildly speculative talk about Asnes 21-22 lineup: Otto/FT62

I think the Otto is a no-brainer for me. I ski mostly consolidated snow. I love my E99/Gamme but sometimes want more width for manky snow. The Ingstads excel in softer snow, which is nice but I don't get that all the time. I really dig 205cm for me, it's the everything length for me. The Gammes com...

Re: Some of you said Gammes don't turn, but...

Like you, I see no information on Fisher Transnordic boots. [ fischer-bcx-transnordic-ny-fjellskisko.jpg That looks a lot like an Alpina Alaska, though with one fewer set of eyes for the shoelaces (splitting the difference with the Alaska XP?), maybe a little higher, and maybe a stiffer heel? That ...

Re: Some of you said Gammes don't turn, but...

I have the Gammes paired up with BC Magnum bindings and beefy next season Fischer BCX Transnordic boots. I've done a few tours with them the last few weekends but this was the first time I was going to do laps in a resort. To my astonishment, I could ski them just like I'd ski a beefy alpine ski! I...

Re: The new Rottefella XPLORE OFFTRACK Binding System Review

Two nice interviews with Øyvar Svendsen, the designer of the XPLORE system and Torstein Myklebostad, director at Rottefella Norway... We learn that the sucessor of NNN-BC has been in the works for 15 years... The first XPLORE patent in 2016... And we also learn why it took so long to come out due t...

Re: Alpina Alaska XP XPlore Boot review

The XPlore flex point is where the joints in the foot are in a somewhat straighter line. That might make it easier to keep the skis straight during kick and glide, which is what Tom reported. Yep, that's my feeling too... That's why I love the XPlore so much for XC skiing...! And that is also why t...

Re: Crusty

I could be totally wrong on this, but I think the only time rocker wouldn't improve turning on an otherwise stiff nordic ski, would be on boiler plate or very hard icy crust. If there's anything soft to carve into on top, then the rocker should improve turning. Again, I could be wrong I've only had...

Re: Alpina Alaska XP XPlore Boot review

Thinking about the flex point some more, I think it may have an effect not just on control during downhill, but also on kick and glide. Looking at a diagram of foot bones, the NNN-BC flex point is at the toes, where the joints in the foot are in a diagonal line. The XPlore flex point is where the jo...
