Re: Rossignol BC 100 Positrack

I have only handled them and flexed them in the shop. The waxless scaled base still sucks. I personally don't see how they could be better than an Annum, an S-Bound 112, or even the outgoing Rossi BC-110 thatit replaces... I don't get the feeling the Rossignol BC skis are built to be particularly g...

Re: Uphill track ski

In my opinion, Asnes could take a page out of the graphics in that video-- and tailor the waxless pattern to suit, to amateur, longer, less forceful kicks, the kind of kicks we are giving out on soft snow along forest roads, etc. The waxless pattern now is suited to perfect kick technique. Unrealis...

Re: The new Rottefella XPLORE OFFTRACK Binding system

[On the more serious note though, it's really hard to compare. It's two very different things and two very different systems. But I would say the new Alfa boots and the Xplore systems made me rediscover some of the feeling from a good, old and stiff system. It's stiff, precise, and intuitive from t...

Re: Is Outdoor buddies in Sweden a legitnstore?

Thanks. I just wonder how they can afford the shipping? Maybe the price on the website is higher when you enter the website from another country :?: Or maybe I am just too cautious... still I remember @fisheater saying that it cost him 100$ for shipping skis from SportsAlbert. I guess I worry too m...

Re: Ski Review: 2019 Åsnes Gamme 54 BC

As far as my weight goes for the Gamme 54 I'm curious if anyone has any insight.6'2" and 215 lbs. I believe the chart states >190 lbs-->210 cm.I have a feeling I may be a little heavy for these skis according to what I have read regarding other peoples wt vs size.Fisheater says he can easily squash...

Re: DIY Fischer easy-skin attachment (pictures)

riel, yeah the Asnes X skin looks much less prone to ski failure (esp. if DIY), I just don't fancy the plastic clip they use, seems to create more drag than fischers design that just sneaks off into the ski, but having tried neither yet the åsnes might work wonders as well, making them more suitabl...

Re: The new Rottefella XPLORE OFFTRACK Binding system

No more MT51! I tried a pair of Wooderson's MT51 skis yesterday. I won't miss those from the lineup. They're alright, but they're not exceptional. Of course, I tried the MT51s after I skied the Gammes all morning, and pretty much every ski is bound to fall flat after using a pair of Gamme skis! Abo...

Re: Ski Review: 2018-2019 Åsnes Ingstad BC

As Ben points out- the current E-109 is a terrible XC ski in very deep snow or breakable crust as its very soft shovel and tip (even softer than the Ingstrad BC) bows like a banana and it is TERRIBLE in breakable crust! Ironically I find the current E99 Xtralite a better XC in deep snow than the wi...

Re: DIY Fischer easy-skin attachment (pictures)

Having cut away that much of the ski's core and shell of laminate would concern me, possibly creating a weak spot. Also, finding an adhesive to assemble the plastic insert that remains perfectly water tight through flexing while very cold would concern me. So I'd stay within a bearable walk of the ...

Re: How much Kick Wax to apply

It depends a lot on snow conditions, and on which wax you are using, too. For polar, green, and blue, I can get away with a really long kick wax pocket and still get good glide. With purple or red wax, I try to keep the wax pocket short, because these are just such a sticky mess. This Friday, the sn...
