Re: How old are Asnes Nansen skis if they don't have the skin attachment point?

@riel Re- turning the Ingstad BC- Did you detune the shovel/tail on your Ingstad? I have not bothered making any changes to them yet. They seem to work well, and I'm still in the middle of getting used to them. One thing that sets aside the Ingstad from the other skis being discussed is just how fa...

Re: My wife’s new skis, Åsnes MT51 waxless-first impressions

Great input, guys. The conclusion to me is that Åsnes should re-think the design of their waxless skis. Waxless skis should be as forgiving as possible for people willing to compromise glide for better grip. Logic would have it that the waxless pattern should be longer than the X-skin part. I have ...

Re: How old are Asnes Nansen skis if they don't have the skin attachment point?

They look like they have just been taking off the shelf new at the store so I'm surprised to hear they may be that old. I took them for a first outing tonight and surprisingly found them a little harder to turn than my amundsen skis. I'm going to mark it up to first day on new skis and keep trying ...

Re: Waxing Noob Question

There was a lot of spruce debris on the trail from recent winds. Small bits are embedded in my kick wax. I'm assuming it's time to scrape (?) and re-wax. If you don't get 100% of the wax off is it problematic? Thx! I tend to just leave small bits of debris in my kick zone from one day to the next. ...

Re: Why didn't Alpina D 102's make it to the USA this year?

It looks like Alpina moved their production from the Fischer factory (2018 and before) to the Sporten factory (2019 and after). Maybe they don't have a production line set up for the 102 at the new place?

Re: The new Rottefella XPLORE OFFTRACK Binding system

as far as the boots, isn't it possible that they have a soft forward flex and still have lateral stiffness. I suppose it is possible that they made the front of the boot very laterally stiff, while retaining a decent forward flex, to give the user NTN-like/lite control over the skis, with the boot ...

Re: Suggestions for some soft shell pants?

The snow here in NH is rarely very deep, so I've gotten away with wearing what appears to be a slightly improved version of the Summitskin 2 pants:

Re: New BCXC considering Fischer Traverse 78 / S 88 / S 98

I have S-Bound 112s here that give decent float, but show "pool cover syndrome" in deep powder. What is "pool cover syndrome"? does it require medical attention, lol... I've tried searching for it's meaning but alas no luck. The "pool cover syndrome" is when the ski flexes like a pool cover, with t...

Re: Binges, some help is needed.

I have found that cable bindings do help with control of the ski. Yesterday I was skiing down Livermore Trail in Waterville Valley, and found that once I tightened the cables on my (old, Riva 2) bindings a little more, I suddenly got good control over the skis. Driving them mostly through the toe pi...

Re: New BCXC considering Fischer Traverse 78 / S 88 / S 98

Anyhow, at the moment I'm strongly leaning towards Asnes Nansen Waxless. I'm digging into previous posts to see how capable these are on consolidated snow. Also recently discover the Asnes USGI skis... https://colemans.com/u-s-g-i-cross-country-downhill-skis I'm fairly opposed to waxed skis ATM, ju...
