Re: Short, waxable ski recommendation
I think the TN66's that I have are a bit long for me (I'm 155lbs and 5'8") at 200cm, but hey, they were free. So I might be a bit biased about their lack of turning ability especially coming from five seasons of skiing SBound 98's and Asnes Kongsvolds ( which I've only ever skied twice). What do yo...

Re: Short, waxable ski recommendation
I'd go with the Asnes Admunsen over the Fischer TN59's. I've never used the TN59's but I have used the TN66's (a waxable ski). The TN66 is a real go straight kinda ski, with minimal side cut (compared to the Admunsen's), and a pretty tall camber. I imagine that the TN59's are even more forward orie...

Re: Åsnes Combat Nato Waxless and other news?
Also stumbled upon an Åsnes Nosi 76 Xplore :o https://www.asnes.com/produkt/nosi-76-xplore/ That ski may well be the same as previous years' Nosi skis, with the main changes being the new top sheet, and the addition of a 188cm model. The sidecut and weight appear identical. The description does not...

Re: SB98/112 or Madshus Panorama or something else?
Different skis are built for different purposes. The Madshus BC skis, and the Fischer S-Bound are built for turning, which means they have a soft flex, and the fishscales will be dragging like crazy when traveling on consolidated snow. They are great for going up and down in moderate terrain. If you...

Re: Voilé and Kästle selling XCD in North America
The geometry and weight of the Kastle XT63 Crown suggests "Børge Ousland with fishscales" The XT84 has the same sidecut as Ingstad, and the XT69 looks suspiciously like the Amundsen (and old Sondre) sidecut. The only mystery one is the XT77, which looks like it might be either Nansen or Sverdrup de...

Re: Voilé and Kästle selling XCD in North America
I just noticed this on La Cordée's website. Some time over the summer they received a whole line of Kästle brand fishscale XCD skis: https://www.lacordee.com/fr/sports-d-hiver/ski-de-fond-hors-piste/skis-hors-piste?page=1 Does anyone know more about these? Are they the same skis as fishscale Sporte...

Re: What Happened???
I will need to read Alexander Dugan. The fact his writing is not available in the USA makes his writing more desirable to me. The more you read about (or from) him, the less desirable he will be. He wants to restore the Russian empire, wipe out the Ukrainian and Georgian cultures, and advocates for...

Re: Next winter set up
I'm still trying to figure out how to fill a gap in my quiver for next winter's setup. I've got a ton of XCD gear, but my 6 year old did school skiing last year, and now we both have season passes to our local hill. I took my 180cm Asnes Støretind when I went skiing with her, but they're too stiff f...

Re: Which ski for steep downhill narrow trails with a 50 lbm backpack
because of COVID and a factory fire, since the 2020 model, this ski has gone through several permutations since. Which year model ski is yourTN66? and which base? 2022-2023 season wax base made in Czechia. This is what really confused me. These skis are very little like what people describe the E99...

Re: Older? Asnes Nansen 200cm in Concord, NH
Ohhh, that is kinda tempting.
I'm in Concord NH as well, and already have an unhealthy number of skis, but nothing waxable in this width.
I should probably feel the flex of the ski before deciding, though
