Questions, questions, questions

It's been a minute, so at long last I have to ask what exactly is XCD ( cross country downhill) and am I doing it? Also I went to my local ski hill took lessons and it improved my skiing so much, am I a bad person? I bought a used pair of skis and even a used pair of plastic boots to help me resort ...

Re: Why we shouldn't Nordic ski in the backcountry

I really think the title here is misleading, this guy is saying dont ski the Invitational route, in that hes probably correct, but even in the days of Fat Bike surpremecy I find some times skiiing it just better. Last year I skied into a remote hot springs and I met many fat bikers who stopped me an...

Re: Voile Objective BC... I think I love you

Thank you, not for the review but for your last comment, I wanted to post a similar " rant" about the Annums and X2s but then I thought I would be a nerd. I felt the same way, where have you been? What was I thinking? What was I doing? Whats more is seeing your post made me really re-think pullin th...

Re: OMG! Stupid snow here.

Ahhhh, 2012, its like a legend here, when you talk to Alaskan skiers and mention 2012, its like you can see the twinkle in their eyes, the funny thing is that year, the snow had melted away at least in the low lands and then Jan 2 came and it started snowing, every day a few inches at a time and bef...

Re: breathable shell jacket? is there one that lets sweat out but keeps you dry

What Roelant and Wooderson say, I literally just today went skiing up hill, guess what I sweated, and when I started to sweat I took off my shell. I think the very best you can hope for from a shell is to a. keep the wind off of you and b. keep you dry from snow and rain and many dont do the second ...

Re: Tolvana Hot Springs

There are ways to access that area without the Shakelton style thing I did, In spring it is hard to beat, you can fly to withing a mile. Or you the White Mountains have may miles of groomed trails joining nice cabins.

Re: Gear advice for newbie

My two cents is also coming from where you are going so to speak, so the big thing about fish scales and wet snow is paste wax is a must, othewise massive balling. Second, I spent to many years trying to use one ski to do it all and my taste have changed in the type of skiing i enjoy for various rea...

Re: OMG! Stupid snow here.

It was there was no one for miles, to give you an idea, the resort about 20 road miles away has the record in the US for snow fall and base, I think its like 500 inches? Somthing crazy like that. Once the sun starts coming out, it will be next level but we are having a pretty good cold snap right no...

Re: is it cold yet?

Have I skied at that temp, yep, but how often does anyone ski at that temp, not very. I think this is a very, very subjective question that can take you in a lot of directions. I mean, yeah skinning up a hill and layering just right, gloves, socks boots etc is a not easy at that temp, then you have ...
