Re: The Finest Leathers: Nordic Norm 75mm Backcountry/Telemark Boots
My friends finally arrived after a long journey from Lithuania. They look like they were resoled, but in great shape. It'll be interesting to see how much, if any, touring I can tolerate while wearing these. They feel comfortable enough (I have very tolerant feet), but the ROM is pretty limited. Now...

Re: Classic Pins: Rottefella ST vs. Voile HD Mountaineer
I've been pretty set on the RST cable binding for my next setup, but it does seem like climbing wires (I'm assuming this means the little tab you can flip up to reduce calf strain while climbing) would be a nice option.

Hoping to get my hands on the SummitCone Vagabond. Just have to sweet talk the misses. I've already splurged on skis this year so its a hard sell.

Re: breathable shell jacket? is there one that lets sweat out but keeps you dry
My .02 I think wool actually breathes better than synthetic. However, it could just be that wool feels less nasty when wet compared to synthetic. Here is a modern wool soft shell option: https://www.varusteleka.com/en/product/sarma-tst-woolshell-jacket/59958 A bit tacticool for my taste, but if I co...

Re: Ramer Military Cable Bindings (Silveretta 125A)
Pretty interesting bindings. I saw them awhile ago and at the price they were being offered, I had to give them a try. Mine do not squeak, but I had them pretty well lubricated. I found that I could kick and glide with them fairly well, but it requires slightly different technique (mainly just somet...

Re: Fischer E-109 vs Excursion 88 vs Traverse 78 vs E99 Crown
On the other hand... my current skis are the 2010 Madshus Glittertind, 200 cm (68/55/62), which are great in the right conditions. So maybe I should get the Excursion 88s to provide the biggest difference from the Glitts. Basically just looking for a decent all-around ski. FWIW I have the 88 in 199...

Re: Baldy Trailhead, Wasilla, AK
If it’s narrow try to wedge, weight one side, turn a little weight the other side. You can advance from there, all the way to a nice Tele turn. However start with that, you’ll be surprised what you can throw in from there Thanks for the tips. Hopefully tomorrow I can put it to use and a more fluid ...
