Re: Pictures, pictures and pictures!

Nothing overachieves quite like moisture on NW winds around here. Snow unexpectedly arrived last night all the way down to the valley.

Re: Telemark-specific ski models

Regarding Harvest Skis, it’s really just a guy who makes skis. I think he’s decided to downsize or something because his skis used to retail in the Steamboat Springs area, but as of last spring, he sold his inventory and is now just taking custom orders. As far as I’m aware, waxless/patterned/scaled...

Re: Telemark-specific ski models

They recently started doing custom orders only, but Harvest Skis out of the Steamboat Springs area makes waxless downhill skis.

Re: Voilé and Kästle selling XCD in North America

Yeah, not the same bases, but the same notable scale shape (resembles crowns as opposed to fish scales) that Fischer uses. I doubt this is a terribly exciting development, but it might explain how Kästle can get away with using the “crown” term in their description, and perhaps it does mean a bit of...

Re: Voilé and Kästle selling XCD in North America

Judging from this glamor shot of the base of the Kästles, the scales seem to have the same shape as the Fischer crown pattern, no?

Re: XCD Skis for Midwest Terrain

You have way more general skiing experience than i do, so filter my input through your own experience. I’d say Excursion 88s if you favor touring and xc performance, and S-bound 98s if you favor yo-yo laps for turns (they aren’t great on really hard snow, but that goes for just about all xcd setups)...

Re: Mounting 3 pin on used Ultravector?

Did you buy them? I am sorry that it took me so long to answer you. … I, however, was able to score a pair of used voile v6 hyper BC a few weeks ago with a pair of fairly expensive AT bindigs, G3 Zed 12 to be specific - for $300. Now I am tempted to try using them with an AT boot... I know, I know,...

Winter can’t go on forever, but it seems like every ski outing is better than the last until it is the last.

Re: Gear Basket

Any CO Front Rangers looking for 10.5 Garmont Excursions? I can’t tell much about what kind of shape they’re in, but probably worth someone investigating.

Re: Fischer S-Bound vs Madshus Panorama

Welcome, André18 . All my gear is old, but I’m about 6’3” and 175, so I’ll chime in. While I don’t ski the most up to date versions of these skis, I do ski the S-bound 98 in 179cm and the Madshus Annum (predecessor to Panorama 78) in 195cm. From what I gather, the skis have gotten just slightly ligh...
