Re: Skis to compliment Asnes Gamme 54 for the Laurentians?
Curious- what was the challenge with the Gamme in 25cm of fresh snow? They felt extremely slow, really struggled to get very far with them in fresh snow, it was exhausting. I could not see myself having to do more than a KM or 2 in it as I was really burning up quick in comparison to the tire-compa...

Re: Skis to compliment Asnes Gamme 54 for the Laurentians?
The area I'm looking to ski in is quite hilly (mountainous if you're not from the rockies). I think for flat terrain my Gammes are my best bet. Though they do get quite stodgy to ski in when the snow is fresh and deeper than a foot. Something with a bit more float would be nice, and something that w...

Skis to compliment Asnes Gamme 54 for the Laurentians?
I picked up a pair of Gamme 54s in November and absolutely had a blast with them this season. They are great for the local terrain here in Eastern Ontario. The only time I had trouble with them was trail breaking after the ~25cm snowfall we had in January. Otherwise they were amazing. Next year we'r...

Re: When should I consider stripping my kick wax and starting fresh again?
Thanks everyone, appreciate the help here. I'll try scraping and see how that goes, and strip if it still feels muddy. Prior to putting down the red silver it seemed like I could have applied all season without worry.

When should I consider stripping my kick wax and starting fresh again?
I'm new to waxing this season. Never owned waxable skis before. Asnes Gamme. Absolutely loving them. I've put roughly about 30 km on them over 10 days in a variety of conditions, polar the length of the ski with 3 corked on layers of either Swix green, blue, or red silver applied in the kick zone. T...

Re: Preferred clothing?
I recently picked up some of those Merino / synthetic mix Kirkland brand socks from Costco that fisheater recommended and I'm impressed. Haven't been on skis yet, only our cold house but they feel great so far. Warm, good breathability. I have sweaty feet, can't do most synthetic socks. These are a ...

Re: Swapping bindings - is it bad? is it hard?
There are some really slow epoxy that woodworkers use to fill gaps or pour river tables and such. The slower is preferred since it is less viscous and will fill the gaps better. 5min stuff likely won't penetrate the hole very well unless you really help it in there.

Re: Swapping bindings - is it bad? is it hard?
A few more thoughts on the remount... 1 cm clearance between existing holes should be considered the minimum, if you're simply plugging with plastic plugs. On a wood core ski (I think this includes the silent spiders?), however, if you plug the old holes with wooden plugs & epoxy, allowing to harde...

Cool. Thanks for the advice, I'll start digging into the threads specific to mounting now
