Re: Asnes Ingstad BC Sizing (second try)

lilcliffy , that a bunch for that detailed breakdown! Much appreciated! Which of the two would complement my Breidablikks the best for right now? I'm a bit of a gear-whore, so… likely to have both in the future. But sans metal edges, which would you recommend going with? FYI — I am always going to ...

Re: Asnes Ingstad BC Sizing (second try)

So, how would the performance vary between the Nansen and the Ingstad both in the waxless?

Are you happy with the Asnes WL scale grip?
I find it generally works well enough. There are a few places of slippage, but nothing I’ve not worked with for years in XC skis, and nothing I don’t think a set of those short skins couldn’t fix.

Re: Asnes Ingstad BC Sizing (second try)

Thanks lilcliffy ! I’ve been in conversation with Norseman this morning. They informed me that the NATO is not available in waxless. I’m looking for waxless model, so they are point me towards Ingstad. Sounds like sizing is similar to Briedablikks, and you suggesting the new Ings have rocker… is mak...

Anyone have an Idea where I can grab a set of Combat Nato in North Amercia?

Re: Asnes Ingstad BC Sizing (second try)

Well, I will re-stoke this discussion. I want to pick up a pair of edged touring skis this season for when I'm not out with the dogs. I've been on a 200 Waxless Breidablikks mounted with Xplore bindings for the past 2 years. I've had a blast on them, and I owe much of these experiences to getting me...

Re: Xplore bindings on larger skis

As for setup, yes I like the waxless style.

I'm intrigued by a Voile Objective BC, or V6 BC (waxless pattern), with Xplore binding, and Alfa Free boots. That sounds on paper like a bangin' setup for just about anything I would throw the direction of either ski.

Re: Xplore bindings on larger skis

So… long time Tele, converted to snowboard a few years ago now (likely not switching back due to old knees with little to no menisci left). One of my favorite setups were my XCD Guides, mounted with G3 Targa, and Gara boots. Those complemented my 190 Voile Chargers, T1 boots, and Axl bindings for ye...

Re: In need of suggestions for Boots/Binding Combo

phoenix , "Jay Peak"… That's where I learned to Tele! About 20 years ago actually! Back in those days I rode a set of Rossi Big Bangs, w/G3 bindings + Gara boots. I learned on that setup for years — before moving out West, and realizing just how small those 190 Big Bangs were for riding out West. T...

Re: In need of suggestions for Boots/Binding Combo

Thanks for the couple of tips - Peepz'! Amongst my searching for info, I did come across in many places that a) Garmont is now Scott, and b) that the Excursion actually had a note-able increase in internal volume/instep specifically. I also just came across Rottelfelas' newest release available this...
