Re: Alpina Alaskas lacing pattern: technique
Yep, tried the Alpinas and the crease developed right across the toe joints - never had this particular problem before in 40 yrs. Tried a number of things such as playing w/the toe box volume, etc., forget it. The Alaskas started going the same way on first couple of outings but the placement of the...

Re: Alpina Alaskas lacing pattern: technique
When new, I ended up tying a surgeon's knot above the third eyelet to change the break-in crease point so it wasn't right on my toe joints but just a bit further back. Worked well, very comfortable pair of boots.

Ordered from them a couple of times now, super quick shipping to the Yukon, got dinged for Gouge and Screw Tax when the skis hit Canada, that's it.

Same thing happened to me with Varuste - pop up said 'call Visa' when I hit 'pay' - long wait on hold with the Visa fraud folks, just confirmed my order was legit and not a stolen card, done. Pain in the ass but better than having to deal with a stolen card number again.

Re: www.Varuste.net
Hi ordered the ottos, bindings and skins a while ago, got the 'we're really busy' e-mail, but they shipped from Helsinki and arrived in the Yukon in 72hrs. flat, damn. Their customer service guy was awesome.
Whole deal, inc shipping, was around $600 cad. Would definitely buy from there agin.

Otto Sverdrup sale at Varuste
Just picked up Otto's, NNN Bc mag bindings and a set of Asnes skins, all-in delivered to the Yukon from Finland for $581 Cad (409 euros). Tough price to beat. Will add to the reviews/speculation page once i get them on the snow.
