Re: S-bound 98? Falketind62? Rab 68? Other Skis?

Thanks alot to all contributions! Since I may have expressed myself not clear enough I try it in one sentence: I am looking for the ski that will provide the most edge grip on hard packed frozen snow when used with Xplore bindigns and available Xplore leather boots. I do not intend to kill myself in...

Re: Alpina Pioneer 80 XPlore Ski Review

Thank you very much for your explanation. Your work is very helpful! I guess what you need is a beefy screw in the floor underneath your workbench and hoist or simple pulley system (a set of 3 simple steel ring or carabiner will do the job) and a kind of a cleat to fix the rope - the latter will giv...

Re: Alpina Pioneer 80 XPlore Ski Review

Great comparison Tom! Keep coming these Vids please! I liked especially the camber compression test! But why put the 3 mm shim there, and not compres till base, which is the poit where most traction is produced? I wonder what this cambercompression tells us about the "hard pack compatibility" of a s...

Re: S-bound 98? Falketind62? Rab 68? Other Skis?

A nice north(?)face! And yes, its steep, thats what I have in mind for the bottlneck situations I encounter frequently. And this is the good news: None of the skis with leather boots work on icy slopes of 30 degrees. I can get down, but its not fun and I kick turn, wedge, or slide down perpendicular...

The new FT Xplore is significantly stiffer. I am very encouraged, but the snow will let me know. I will not have a report on the ski for quite a while.
Thanks, keep us tuned!

Re: S-bound 98? Falketind62? Rab 68? Other Skis?

@ lowangle al This is my resort ski - you would not want to take that into the woods, weightwise.... sidecutwise widthwise... and this is the newer model. Mine has 68 under foot.... length is 128 cm, Radius 8 meter, an extreme carving ski. https://shop.rtc-ski.ch/p/rtc-128-carve-ohne @ Lilcliffy Tha...

Re: S-bound 98? Falketind62? Rab 68? Other Skis?

BUT it seems that the new Rabb is stiffer and maybe heavier so it might be a different story now. The new FT seems to be significantly different in term of stiffness but as mentioned we don’t have reports yet on both the new FT and Rabb. If you are more into dh, the Rabb os a better choice. It has ...

Re: S-bound 98? Falketind62? Rab 68? Other Skis?

It would help if you would share info like height, weight, shoe size, etc… Here we go: 174 cm, 83 kg, Size 43 (Us 9.5), skiing since 50 years, tight telemark carving turns since 5 years, never had severe accidents or injuries, though often skiing "on the edge". So yes, I definitely need some "flota...

Re: S-bound 98? Falketind62? Rab 68? Other Skis?

Skiing down 30 degree icy slopes with leather boots is *really* hard, especially if the snow is less than smooth..... Supposedly the new FT62 are better, last years model is supposedly ideal only on powder. I am sure you are right! I would not choose the 30 degrees icy slope for fun. But often enou...

Madshus Annum and Epoch, Rossignol has a 110 would be in the same class as the Fishers. Voile Objective is a bit wider in the mid-80’s Thanks for adding these to the list! I've just checked the sidecuts of both, Annum and Rossi Bc 110 have 78 mm under foot. Up to which width can edges be effectivel...
