Re: Made my own skis…mounting advice?
Nice! I’ve only mounted a handful of bindings, but I’ve got a few decades of woodworking experience to lend some pointers. You totally don’t need a jig, they just expedite and foolproof things when time is money. I would spend a few dollars on a drill block and stop collars if you don’t have any. I...

Have you checked Telewiki on this forum? Theres a couple of articles about selecting mount location, a couple that are NNNBC specific, and and article with templates.

Re: Made my own skis…mounting advice?
As far as mounting point (pin line), that's up to you, and how you plan to use the ski. Seems to me it'll be for general touring, in which case pin line on balance point is, and has long been, the standard. Pin line on chord center was standard for a long time, until the advent of rocker, heavier a...

Made my own skis…mounting advice?
As a summer project, I decided to start making my own wooden nordic skis by hand. They’re not pretty or symmetrical, and I’m not 100% sure they’re skiable, but I’ve finally finished my first pair of skis without snapping them trying to steam bend them. I want to slap the NNNBC magnum bindings I have...

Re: Heel pain help - Alfa Free a/p/s
I switched to the Alfa Free this season (from the Alaska XP), and definitely noticed some heel discomfort at first. I found putting band-aids on the hotspots helped a lot, as did wearing thin liner socks that gave an additional layer for the hot spot to slide against. I also found keeping the boots...

Re: Heel pain help - Alfa Free a/p/s
FWIW, I've experienced similar heel rub and the boots do break-in over time. But until that happens. 1. Consider using blister heel pads. 2. Experiment with different sock thickness. This can make a lot of difference in my experience, even relatively small changes in sock thickness can help. If the...

Heel pain help - Alfa Free a/p/s
Hey everyone, Hoping to find some boot fitting advice here for soft boots- I just switched over to xplore bindings and I found a pair of Alfa Free a/p/s for an insanely good price. Wore them around a little yesterday to see if I needed to throw a footbed in there (I have a couple lying around), and ...

Need recommendations to help complete a setup for my girlfriend
Went to REI resupply today and ended up snagging a super cheap pair of Madshus panorama 68s (same xcd skis I’m on) in my girlfriend’s size. She’s a very advanced alpine skier and has been looking for a fun setup to both xc/xcd ski with me and to have a fun challenge in-bounds when we ski with our fr...
