Re: Best Telemark Skis for Backcountry Adventures?
Going to make several assumptions, correct me if I’m wrong: 1. You’re talking about up and down ski tours, not xcd or mixed/rolling terrain 2. You already ski, maybe tele but only in-bounds so far, or maybe your tele setup is too heavy to tour or doesn’t have a touring mode. 3. You’re generally fami...

Re: Åsnes Rabb….nylon skin or klister?
I did a tour last year that sounds a bit like what you did. I was using the Falketind 62 which is quite close to the Rabb68. I brought the nylon XSkin and a full length skin. It was a good thing that I did because the nylon skin was pretty useless. It did not climb as I'd hoped - kept sliding back ...

Re: Åsnes Rabb….nylon skin or klister?
Thanks to everyone for the advice… went with the nylon kicker skins for the day. Chose the sustained lower angle tour rather than flat-to-steep. The nylon x-skins absolutely awful but it was the correct choice for the day. When people say there’s no glide, they’re not kidding. 0 Gide at all, might a...

Åsnes Rabb….nylon skin or klister?
Hi all, I know this has been discussed to some extent over the years, but I haven’t found exactly what I’m looking for. I just pulled the trigger on a pair of Asnes Rabb 68 skis and I’m very excited to get out and ski them. I’m planning a tour this weekend that falls in the beginner AT/ advanced XC ...

Re: 3 Pin vs. Rotte Xplore
@Jlars13 have you tried nnnbc with the hard flexor? It makes a huge difference as well, although I find it relatively difficult, especially in gloves in a cold breeze, to swap out. I imagine xplore flexors were designed to be easier in this regard but don't know. I have, just briefly before switchi...

Xplore and “b” - tele
Apologies if this has been discussed elsewhere, but I want to see what people think about throwing tele turns on xplore setups. I’ll give my experiences and thoughts, I’d love to see if people agree or not. I’m on xplore with pioneer pros and madshus panorama m68 skis. They’re a little too long for ...

Re: 3 Pin vs. Rotte Xplore
Overall I agree with the other posters here but there’s a HUGE point I don’t think anyone has mentioned- HARD FLEXORS. For me, the stock xplore flexor feels almost fully free-pivot. Because the xplore sole is relatively stiff, and there’s no duckbill to lean into, it feels incredibly difficult to pr...

Finally mounted em - went with 3-pin and had to wait for the boots to show up in the mail.
Will post how they ski next weekend hopefully!

Re: Made my own skis…mounting advice?
Thanks! Would love to pick your brain on some woodworking issues I’ve had…. As you can see I went a little too thin with my hand plane on the first ski just before the shovel and had to try to match the second one to it. Any tips on keeping my planing smooth and even, and not getting carried away a...

Re: Made my own skis…mounting advice?
I know you’re kidding but I am planning to try my hand at both traditional bindings and a kicker skin for the next pair!randoskier wrote: ↑Thu Nov 21, 2024 2:33 pmWhat? You're not making the bindings too?
Do these take the Easyskin?
Nice job!
