Re: 2024 Alpina Pioneer TECH XP Backcountry/Telemark ski boot review XPLORE

Nice to see people testing the Pioneer Tech. Thanks for the impressions and pictures with the Fischer BCX Traverse. Alpina Xplore boots are very expensive here in Norway, so I am unsure if I will buy this boot. I also did try Pioneer Pro in a shop and it felt too wide and soft for me to consider it...

Re: New skis for Finnish Defence Forces

I had my first chance to touch the skis, after being back in Finland. Mounted with the Nato bindings. I am not a fan of the bindings, especially as they are mounted too far back for the type of ski. Build quality of the ski itself seemed alright. The scales are not as pronounced as in previous scale...

Re: The new Rottefella XPLORE OFFTRACK Binding System Review

I have been putting off installing most of my bindings. Unfortunately I could not resist and my FTX were mounted with the short screws. Seems I should swap them out. Rottefella now offers these ~22mm screws with the XP bindings, and most shops I have been to have spares of them now too. It is a new ...

Re: Asnes Mountain Race 48 Query

Oh man, you've got an easier choice. Definitely 210 the right choice for you- Meanwhile I am stressing out with my mere 182cm and 70kg, but use 10-15kg backpack most of the time, and the rest without a pack or 15-20kg backpack But I also got the 210s. Åsnes accidentally sent me the skin versions fir...

Re: 2024 Alpina Pioneer TECH XP Backcountry/Telemark ski boot review XPLORE

Yess, my Pioneer Tech arrived! Size is 42. Weight 676g per boot. That is 10g less per boot comparwd to my size 42 Pioneer Pros! There is slightly more volume for the toes, height wise. I can feel significantly more support for the ankle, however not as much as I hoped for. Not as stiff as Alfa Free ...

Re: Crispi joining Xplore train

I just briefly tried both of these on at a shop. Demo pairs, more arriving next week. Definitely true to size. I found the Futura XP more comfortable than Alpina Alaska XP or Alfa Vista. But that is just my foot. Will get a pair if Pioneer Pro & Tech do not end up working for me. The Futura Pro felt...

Re: 2024 Alpina Pioneer TECH XP Backcountry/Telemark ski boot review XPLORE

@Theme I'd say yes, they have really more support than the alaska XP. And more than the Alfa Skaget as well... Especially lateral support is much stronger, fore aft a little bit. I think this is a good all around boot for people who want controll on the downhills but something that XCs better than a...

Looking good @Inspiredcapers

Mine will arrive later next week, but need to wait another few weeks until I can ski them. Apparently Sport Conrad only had one pair in my size. Also heard that only orders made in the spring were possible, Alpina must not have made many of the boots yet

Re: Military Ski Master List (w/ Photos)

I was after all able to also find the Finnish military ski version made by Peltonen. Has to have been a smaller batch. Seems they were made in early 90s.
