Re: Vic Bein
Thank you very much for that information jefkin , and welcome to the forum! For less than the cost of postage for a hard-copy version, and with just a very few mouse-clicks I was able to download the E-book version of Telemark Journal, Issue 2, from the Lulu website. The original Vic Bein article wa...

Re: Fischer BCX 8 75mm
Yes, I would say that Fischer Nordic boots are smaller than the stated size, based on my own experience with BCX675 as well as an NNN BC boot. I normally take size 44 in street shoes, sports shoes and outdoor boots. With the Fischer BC boot I had to go to 45 and also 45 with the BCX675. However, the...

Re: Vic Bein
Thank you for that @Big Tim.
I looked him up and found that he also lives here in CH.
I'm in the Norwegian mountains for the next 3 weeks and I will try to contact him when I get home.

Re: Alpina Alaska 75 failure: again!
^^^^ Winter has not been good here, with regard to Nordic skiing, at any rate. So far I have managed only a single day-tour of less than 20km in my favourite stomping ground of the Swiss Jura. I’ve taken Nordic skis to downhill resorts, of which there are very many here, but that was not for touring...

Re: Alpina Alaska 75 failure: again!
Actually, Jurassien, they have been really nice... Why? Because I bought the boots from an unauthorized dealer — a guy that bought a ski stock from a shop that went bankrupt... They still — Alpina sport — accepted to honor the warranty... But in the meantime, I will have to find a solution for my G...

Re: Alpina Alaska 75 failure: again!
Rodbelan I wouldn’t hold out much hope for a reliable repair, as that is where the maximum stress on the sole comes to bear. The midsoles of 75mm boots with a stitched welt can also crack in this exact same spot. I find it unacceptable that you have to wait till next season for a replacement – espe...

Which EU-Directive would you be referring to here? Please enlighten us.blitzskier wrote: ↑Sat Mar 02, 2024 1:12 pmwhere are those made, country of origin. ???
europe has to abide by new enviromental standards in their rubber plastics production. euro plastics are recycled 10x over, so durability of european rubber/plastics sucks.

Boots which weigh 14kg apiece might be good for skiing on the moon, as they could help compensate for the lack of gravity.JohnSKepler wrote: ↑Mon Feb 26, 2024 5:04 pmThe new TXPro are only 14kg each https://mountaineer.com/mens-tx-pro-ski-boot/
Perhaps Scarpa have sniffed new marketing potential, far in advance of their competitors.

Re: Pictures, pictures and pictures!
Some more pics from last season in Norway. All of this series are from Skarvheimen mountain range, north of Hardangervidda and south of Jotunheimen. The forecast gave a 5-day window of high pressure, but they were pretty certain that it would break down after the 5 days. The traverse would normally ...
