Mina og meg
Not a report on one of my tours, but a heartwarming documentary featuring an adventurous young father, a VERY understanding mother and a remarkable little girl called Mina, two and a half years old at the time. She doesn’t put in an appearance till 04:45, saying goodbye to her mother on the platform...

Re: Leather boot set up with best downhill control?
Can the cable/rods be removed/attached w/o taking skis off? What is the weight difference with the Voile 3-pin cable? I have both of those bindings. I can’t tell you the weight of the Voilé, as it’s mounted (the manufacturer gives 810g). However, the Rottefella 75/Cable is as yet unmounted and I ca...

Re: Vic Bein
I'm off to find that book.... That should be neither difficult nor expensive. When I Google-searched “Vic Bein” quite a few second-hand booksellers came up and had the book listed. Here, for example (if you haven’t already found it): https://www.biblio.com/mountain-skiing-by-bein-vic/work/363773 I’...

Re: LilCliffy's Nordic Backcountry Touring Waxing
Yes, and ski wax was invented by the monks as well. They used the mixture of beeswax with pine tar as a sealant for beer kegs. Really?....I would never have guessed! Clever buggers, those monks. Not only did they invent beer, whiskey and various other medicinal substances, but we now know that they...

Re: LilCliffy's Nordic Backcountry Touring Waxing
I have been skiing since I could walk. My father and mother met in Dublin in the mid-60s. My mother from Ireland- my father from Wales-they did not grow up skiing. My mother is Irish- from Armagh............. That’s no excuse…..no excuse at all! A mere stone’s throw from Armagh: https://www.youtube...

That one dude has bad muzzle discipline, he is going to blow his own leg off someday.
Someone should explain to them that you're supposed to wait till you're caught in an avalanche before releasing the airbags.

Re: BC boot repair
Sorry, I misread and though you where also from Norway. VPG refers to the physical and web-shop vpg.no in Oppdal, Norway. You may also find someone where you are that can block out the shoes. Good luck. Ahh………good to know! I’ve been considering ways to extend the MASSIV tour and one of the schemes ...

I’ve just recently joined the forum, but I remember years ago (perhaps even decades ago!) browsing on a similar forum which at some point just vanished into thin air. I’m assuming that this forum is its successor, as it seems to deal with very similar topics. On the old forum I came across a story w...

Re: BC boot repair
telerat Your first link is the one I found on the Google search mentioned in my original post and which brought me to this forum. However, both the first and second links deal predominantly with 75mm and I haven’t found anything dealing in detail with how to do a field-repair on BC boots. You menti...

BC boot repair
Hi all, I stumbled on this forum as a result of a Google search for “Repairing a BC ski boot” and decided to register and post – so this is part introductory post, part trip-report and part discussion on how to prepare for a BC boot failure in the field. On a recent long-distance tour in the mountai...
