Re: Voilé and Kästle selling XCD in North America
My general experience is that wider skis are lots of fun in leather boots in deep powder. I've even skiied 96 underfoot in stiff leathers (merrell ultras, simmilar to asolo extremes) and that was fine. I wonder what it would be like trying to skiing leathers on a 110 underfoot ski on a waist deep bo...

Re: Voilé and Kästle selling XCD in North America
I'm a little surprised that Voile suggests the Endeavor/Alaska combination is pretty decent downhill. Having skied Alaska 75's on the narrower Objectives (for a good few years), I wouldn't say that, at least without a clear addition of "in easy conditions". Once more I'll also note that the snow in...

Re: Riding the hide
I bought a pair of Alicos from Altai to try on. The fit was so weird, I don't understand how any person could fit into them.

Re: Short, waxable ski recommendation
I use 30mm 100% mohair x-skins on my Rabb 68s. I wanted kicker skins that would have a similar grip to glide as fish scales, but I found that these both grip and glide better than fish scales. The main disadvantage is it's awkward to ski downhill with them on. I can sort of turn but it's janky. I'm ...

Re: Rex Grip Tape
That does sound very useful.
I stay away from any kick wax warmer than blue because I frequently need skins for the moderate terrain I like to explore and I'm not into XC skiing on forest roads.

Re: Rex Grip Tape
I looked up a youtube video on its application. Is this basically just grip wax that's applied with a tape?

Re: Gaiters for skiing
The OR Crocodiles are pretty much the gold standard for gaiters. Tough without being overly heavy.
Some non-waterproof ones would be nice for breathability. I wonder if they would get wet wading through dry powder.

Nice, east of the smaller mesa looks like a nice way to get up to Snowden meadows. Going from Andrews lake up to Snowden meadows can be a bit steep in places.
