Re: Ski Movies

Found this 1984 Rochester, New York NPR segment on telemark skiing:

Gives a lot of insight into what the approach to technique and equipment was in NY state during that time.

Re: Telemark on light gear Reciepts

There is this older film sequence of traditional telemark skiing that I have come across a couple of times:

Starting at 1 minute 12 seconds.

Would love to find out where/when it was filmed and who the skiers are.

Re: Ferreol ZigZag 92

Where did you end up mounting them? They look like center-mount skis, something I am curious about.

Re: Scarpa TX Comp | Hardshell boots for Xplore | TTS kick & glide

The B&D TTS adapter skis just fine downhill. I am going to keep skiing mine. I just do not see any advantage (and many disadvantages) of TTS compared to 75mm (or Xplore) for low-angle skiing. The Voile Transit works the same way and is going to have the same problems for kick and glide, rolling terr...

Re: The new Scarpa TX Comp ?

Not too long ago I decided I did not have enough skis and had better buy the SummitCone Vagabond 106 with fishscales in 182cm length before prices go up/tariffs/other ridiculous excuses. Having binding anxiety I put in 4-hole inserts and have been skiing the Vagabond 106 alternately with Scarpa T4 a...

Some interesting lead change practice drills, with emphasis on really weighting the heel of the front ski:

Here's a picture from about 7800 feet on Mt. Pinos. About 8 inches. If you're in SoCal, may be good for another couple days.ski-trail.jpg
Sweet! That looks great. Thank you for your thoughts. Amundsens are one of the skis I have been curious about.

Re: Light gear does a good telemarker make?

All those skiers on NNN-BC with red flexors at the resorts in Japan can't be wrong. I have NNN-BC with red flexors on 71-59-66 Rossignol "Haute Route Telemark" (no relation to the Rossignol "Haute Route" randonee skis as far as I can tell) this season, and they are a ton of fun on the local hill. De...

From the world socialist web site org, fantastic (literally) sources my man.
I don't agree with their politics, but the WSWS covers a lot of international news other outlets do not, and they do excellent investigative and historical long-form articles from time to time. I've learned a lot.
