@JohnSKepler have you considered the Fischer BCX Traverse? I have, and really like, the Alfa Skaget. It is not a stiff boot. Another idea might bee to get an upsized boot and add a thin intuition style liner, I think that would beef the boot up. Might have an issue with toe space though. Skimo.co ha...

One limiting factor on the Russia thing, I wonder if democracy would start to come into play if they started to move strategically beyond that region? Say they went at Finland, or Alaska or the Canadian North. Would at some point their citizens say enough? Or is it a true dictatorship? Hard to know...
