Re: Ski match for FINNGRIP easy bindings
https://www.varusteleka.com/en/product/kuusamo-nordigrip-trek-ski-binding/73641 Hi mca80, Thanks for the tip! I have seen them on the manufactuer's website. But I think they would feel different. The shoe sole needs to flex more compared to the easy bindings as there is no 'tilting foot plate'. Als...

Ski match for FINNGRIP easy bindings
Greetings from Lappland! I got myself a new pair of skis this winter: Peltonen Metsä 70 step with a finngrip easy binding  The ski is a classic swedish/finnish forrest ski, 230cm long, 70mm wide, very little camber and no steel edges. I really enjoyed it on the flats when there is fesh, dee...

Re: Åsnes Combat Nato vs. Fischer Excursion 88 for Trail breaking/icy crust
On the topic of Åsnes Amundsen:  How about the Amundsen Fram ? My local ski shop sells it on a 50% discount... so 200$. I read it has a higher camber. Ignoring the obviouse difference of waxless vs waxable, how do the two skis compare otherwise? Would adding some kick-wax to the Fram make i...

Re: Åsnes Combat Nato vs. Fischer Excursion 88 for Trail breaking/icy crust
Another application for the new ski I have not mentioned yet, besidse trail breaking , would be going on the yearly easter skiing trip to the fjäll (swedisch mountains). The trip usually consist of a lot of flat sowmobile tracks in the beginning, then some climbing to a cabin and then trail breaking...

Re: Åsnes Combat Nato vs. Fischer Excursion 88 for Trail breaking/icy crust
The Amundsen is my best XC ski in these conditions you describe- with the Combat NATO a close second for the most part. The Amundsen will track straighter though, which means less energy expended trying to go straight. Combat Nato is awesome ski, but for exclusively flat terrain an Amundsen seems l...

Re: Åsnes Combat Nato vs. Fischer Excursion 88 for Trail breaking/icy crust
Thank you!! That makes a whole lot of sense. :) Then it must be the non-rockered tip of the Nato that makes it a better trail breaker in any condition? What about cambe r? Isn't the higher camber of the Fischer putting more weight on the shovel tips compared to the more even spread force on a lower ...

Re: Åsnes Combat Nato vs. Fischer Excursion 88 for Trail breaking/icy crust
Thank you all for your replies, especially lilcliffy! You seem to have every ski possible :D I already read your great reviews! Yes, I am considering grip wax, but the Crown on my TN66 worked very well so far, so there needs to be some benefit to outweigh the extra efford :P Maybe I do not understan...

Åsnes Combat Nato vs. Fischer Excursion 88 for Trail breaking/icy crust
Greetings community! After getting myself a new Fischer Transnordic 66 205 and selling my åsnes Ingstad WL 205 (too little grip, no use for rocker) I am left with only one pair of xc skis! That needs to change  The TN66 works great for me in consolidated snow and snowmobile tracks and for causa...

Re: New skis (for when Ingstad WL do not work)
I grip wax all of my "waxless" scaled skis- including my Nansen WL. Interesting! Where do you put the grip wax exactly? In front of the scales only? Or also behind? Also directily on scales? How long? I am using the Fischer 88 Excursion in 188cm length. It works pretty well in the familiar ...

Re: New skis (for when Ingstad WL do not work)
5'10" 190lbs (86kg) 205cm For me (6', 175lbs, 80kg,) the 205 cm allready feel a little soft and I expected more 'spring' from the higher camber. My Ingstads 205 feel more 'springy'. UPDATE on the Fischer TN66 crown : I hot-glide-waxed the skis (Swix PS6) and added liquid glide wax to the scale part...
