Re: How do you even go uphill?...

Ignore herringbone for the moment. Go to 1:29 on the video below. Notice the technique. Shortened stride, weight transfer. Look at the angle and rhythm of the skier’s poles. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=bSZDLGhTzMM With the method shown you wouldnt even need grip wax on a gentle slope. With any gr...

Re: How do you even go uphill?...

Herringbone can take a few seasons to master but it is worth it. I can do Herringbone on a prepared trail, even on the steep; however my long skis limit how wide I can go in the steps. But the moment I am on softer snow, nothing does it, it's like absolutely no grip at all; I don't understand what ...

Re: How do you even go uphill?...

Temperature isn’t the problem, mon ami. It is -28 in Mikkeli, Finland today. Wax might be a problem if the wrong one is applied but snow can be very abrasive below -20. Climbing is a function of momentum, technique, and waxing. Three part problem. In the cold temperature on fresh snow, waxing is the...

Re: Boot Review: 2018 Crispi Svartisen BC

Merci. Translation worked very well. The best observation was on flex. Duckbills flex at the duckbill and NNNBC flexes at the middle foot. This explains the cracking pointes at or behind the pin lines on the duckbills. There is a changement in flex with cables but I don’t know if this prevents crack...

Google fabric rivets. Or go to a leather working store.

Re: Grip tape question

“Grip” and “tape” conjures up an image, doesnt it? Asking about skier weight and ski length can be insigntfull. If a ski is the right size, may be the skier has some experience. If the size is wrong, maybe they don’t. Its a clue. It’s a scaled ski which means there isnt a “true wax pocket”. Camber o...

maybe others know — but I don’t.
What is “Grip Tape?”
If you tink about it long enough, you’ll figure it out.

Lots of advise before asking about the weight of the skier and the length of the skis first. That’s the first thing an experienced skier would ask, n’est pas?

Re: $300-a-day lift ticket?

It’s not super common here but the gear is widely available at major sports stores in Quebec, Ontario, and New Brunswick. The selection is not good later in the season. There are 19 boots available at La Cordee Montréal today. The list might be half in February. https://www.lacordee.com/fr/sports-d-...

Re: $300-a-day lift ticket?

I'm convincing my friend to just "buy some boots" which by the way, you can't try on any where in the states Why can’t he just walk into a sports store and try on boots? Maybe not in Florida but in snow country? Or aren’t they stocked in US stores at all? They are broadly available in Canadien spor...
