Re: Boot Review- Long-Term Test- Alaska BC-Guard BC-Svartisen BC

I'm a 47 and I think 48 and up is more difficult to buy? Alaska comes in a 48. I’m hopeful the new boots will keep all the positives, while adding some additional stiffness for edge control. Are you speaking of the Xplore version of the Guide? Yes -- but getting the impression that may not be the c...

Re: Boot Review- Long-Term Test- Alaska BC-Guard BC-Svartisen BC

I am surprised that the Svart is less volume and width than the Alaska. I have quite low volume feet as it is, I couldn't go lower. I think that the width of the Svartisen and the Alaska are actually pretty close. The Alaska definitely is larger volume for its width than the Svartisen. I can get my...

Re: Boot Review- Long-Term Test- Alaska BC-Guard BC-Svartisen BC

I wish the Alaska was a tiny bit wider and I would own a pair. Size-up and install a thicker insole to take up boot volume. I’m hopeful the new boots will keep all the positives, while adding some additional stiffness for edge control. Are you speaking of the Xplore vesion of the Guard? Did you rea...

Re: Crusty

However, the rockered tips on my Ingstads are much stiffer and barely suffer from that issue, though I have heard they are still soft enough to be terrible in breakable crust. It is not that the tip-shovel of the Ingstad BC is too soft (as you state above the shovel-tip of the Ingstad is totally st...

Re: Wildly speculative talk about Asnes 21-22 lineup: Otto/FT62

Asnes' videos speak to me on a deep level-

PASSION, BEAUTY, JOY- as well as something ancient that is underneath- something that calls me to want to see what is on the other side of the horizon.

Re: Wildly speculative talk about Asnes 21-22 lineup: Otto/FT62

This seems to show the ball of the foot off the trailing ski. AKA "riding the bumper" on NNNBC. Generally thought to be unstable on NNNBC because the rails are unengaged and unweighted-- but perhaps more powerful on XPLORE with more robust toe connection. And with a rigid bumper may still have sign...

Re: Leather Boot Reviews

Hey Genoah77! My Wrangells are amazing. But I eventually had to accept that they are truly a mountaineering/work boot- the sole is VERY stiff, and I suspect that they have a full-length shaft. They are amazing boots, comfortable, supportive, reasonably light, warm, waterproof. I have used them prima...

Re: Alpina 1600 BC

Thank you for the update and information on this boot! From the photos and your description of the boot- they look exactly the same as the boot I investigated a number of years ago. My friend did end up ordering a pair. They don't appear to have been updated. The coating on top of the leather is maj...
